SECS users: does your EGT read high?
I've got a PSI3 SECS unit hooked up to my WRX and my EGTs seem to be registering very high. Normal driving usually gives me an average of around 1250 C - 1300 C, and upwards of 1400 C during spirited driving. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds like my engine is going to blow up at any moment. But, I haven't heard any knocking, and my coolant and oil temp readings don't seem abnormal. The car has been set up the same way for months before the install of the SECS unit without any problems. Is there something different about the way the unit reads EGTs through the ECU, or have I just been extremely lucky up to now? Any light on this would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the details: When I start it up in the morning: EGT: 680 - 690 C CT: 80 C Oil Temp (From Elec Omori Meter reading from rear oil gallery): 0 F After full warm up: EGT: 1250 - 1300 C CT: 180 - 190 C Oil Temp: 190 - 200 F "Spirited" driving: EGT: 1400+ C CT: 200 C Oil Temp: 200 - 210 F I have: Monster TD04 (ported and polished) at 15 psi STi intercooler stock injectors Helix flex uppipe with bung ECUTek tuned Greddy EVO catback |
