Thumbs up Subaru XV Debuts

Well the official XV news is out at least for our European Subie lovers

http://www.subaru-global.com/about/m.../xv/index.html

Makes the 2012 5-door not so hot anymore. I want my XV with the 6-speed now!

Nice. It's pretty much the same as the XV concept except for the fancy lights and grille.

I didn't expect see those wheels to make into production.

Other things missing that were on the concept: a roof rack, and panoramic glass roof. (The panoramic roof isn't vaporware, either... they offer it on Exiga.)

Google the concept... the production wheels look different. Similar style, though.

So the XV looks like an Outback version of the Impreza wagon or am I missing something here? Looks good and I like the wheels. I see Subaru selling these even better than the Outback.

Interesting, is the XV the only Subaru model that has start/stop technology?

Quote:
The engine automatically shuts off when stopped or idling. When traffic starts moving, just let off the brake pedal and it picks right up for you to take off.

Looks pretty cool, like the OBS finally gets its just desserts. Great web design on that site, as well.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you there... I was glad to see the new Sport doesn't have any plastic fenders or molding.

That is one of the most awesome Subaru models I ever seen. All they need to do now is bring it to the US, and offer it in WR Blue.

• 225/55x17 tires, same size as found on the Forester

• 8.6" ground clearance

• 1.6L & 2.0 gas engines. First application of the FB16 engine

• Updated diesel offered

• 1.6 version gets dual-range 5-speed tranny, others get 6-speed manual. All but diesel get CVT option.

• Still struggling with the grille insert design

• Start-stop engine function

• Disappointed in the "urban" CUV marketing. Was hoping for it being the sporty off-roader that the Forester never was.

I don't get the marketing for the XV on the Subaru Global website. They are selling the XV as an "urban" vehicle... huh? Why do you need raised suspension and plastic bits in the city?

They're showing flowers and shopping bags.

I don't get it.

This. 8.6" of ground clearance for the city? The Impreza has too much body roll as it is. If you're not planning on off-roading, then why buy this?

I agree, early marketing (so far) doesn't make sense. An "urban" CUV with a ton of ground clearance?

Subaru could really make this into a really neat, sporty off-roader, which is where I think it should be targeted.

That is very nice!

The wheels are awesome and the interior looks more like the 07's, which is far better than the 08-11's.

We should have this!!!

Wouldn't that just be an orange Impreza 5-door?

Here's a screencap

350Nm = 258lb/ft. Please bring that engine here.

Impreza 5 door for comparison
