Default Just got a Ticket for Unsafe Start.. DAMMIT!

Well guys,

My Subie is in the shop gettin it's aftermarket suspension put on, so i was driving the Van today.. Well i was pulling out of a parking lot, and there was a puddle, and my RWD van decided to spin it's tires.. and with my luck there was a cop on the corner.. Pulled me over, and wrote me up for Unsafe start.. ugh! So can anyone help me get out of this? any connections somewhere? i dont want to get a point on my record.. noooo.. CANT go to traffic school because of a Redlight ticket i got this time last year.. hasn't been 18 months!!..
So what do you all suggest? do you know how much a ticket for Unsafe Start would be? Any help would be greatly apreciated..

Thans in advance
-Danny

You still might be able to go to traffic school. You can go after only 12 months, but the judge will have to ok it. Just go to court and explain the situation, going from awd to rwd hitting the water, etc. He may even dismiss it.

Good luck,
Rob

Does your court/ county allow internet traffic school? Just a thought, only one hour and a half or so. Easy test at the end. :]

good luck..

sorry to hear that... i would go to the court and let the judge hear your side of the story, like z0s0 mentioned. it's very typical for a car(van) w/o limited slip diff to spin one side while coming off the driveway, even when it's not wet. unless you fishtailed spinning both wheels right in front of the cop... well, hope it works out for you. maybe the cop wont show up at the court (it happened to me once *whew*)

btw, where did this happen? i know irvine cops are kinda anal

KIND OF ANAL?!?!? Irvine cops are the worst. Who else would write someone in a golf cart a ticket and then pull them over AGAIN two minutes later and give them another ticket? No one but the good ol' Irvine PD.

Man that sux. I think the cop was just bored and trying to meet his quota. Like domestico said just goto court and explain to the judge what happened. Tell him there was a puddle and your tires slipped when they hit it thats really not all the common. Especially if the van is RWD. RWD drive cars put out a lot of torque atow rpms.

The only RWD vehicle I ever owned would peel out all the time, the rear wheels would get stuck on ledges and driveways, dips etc and they would spin before they rolled over the obstruction it was especially common coming out and going in driveways. I got it stuck where the thing just sat there and blew smoke from the wheels, I had to put it in reverse and get a running start. lol. Oh and if you threw water in the equasion the thing would spin its tires when it shifted from second to third. I tried everything I bought the widest tires for the car and got the thickest tread pattern and didnt seem to help much.

So basically if the judge has ever driven a RWD car he will understand and let you go if he hasnt he may think you were making it up.

In Newport Beach and Irvine, they give tickets for driving a car more than 2-years-old!! They write all kinds of reasons on the ticket -- things like "unsafe start", "no front license plate" -- but the real crime they are persecuting is "driving a car older than 2 years"

Oh. The other major Irvine / Newport Beach ticket: "not being caucasion" usually accomanied by "being too young."

Profiling? Nahhhhhhh.......

I'm using tips from the Ticket Assassin right now to get out of a Red light ticket that i think was unfair. Haven't found out if it works yet, but at least it helps. The site is free, but recommends throwing them $10 if you get outta the ticket on their advice.

Hah, I remember a while back when I had first bought my 93 RX7. I took off from a light at night, burning up both tires! Just as I made it through the intersection, I passed up a cop going the other way, he turned his lights on SO fast but he just got boxed in and couldnt get out fast enough. I said "screw it, I am NOT getting busted doing this! ". So I took off as fast as I could go, found a street to turn on, turned the lights off and ebrake stopped (no brake lights) in front of some other cars. Hooooowheeee, that was the MOST excilerating, exciting, STUPID thing I have ever done!

Default It's the laws, not the cops.

Don't keep a grudge against the cops on the street. Whether it's the quotas they're being held to by their superiors (politicians), the laws they're required to uphold (written by politicians) or the complaints they're required to look into (by political people like old farts and nosy neighbors), those guys are just doing their job. Sure, there will be a few jabronie numbnuts shaft-riding rulebook-praying small-minded pencil jockeys who have a small self-concept to inflate and something to prove to their betters, but so many more are just like you and me. Well, you anyway.

Give 'em a brake for doing a dangerous job as well as they can, and if you're going to drive like a madman, be smart about it so they don't have an excuse.

Signed,
Dude with enough tickets to wallpaper his garage.

I got an ex. of speed ticket in my rs!!!! I was going to fight it and I got the police report. the cop said he saw me burn out leaving a parking lot then burn out going around a corner for aprox. 5 sec.
and hit 50mph in 100feet!!!!

Well, I was never in the parking lot, and I don't thing my car can do 50 mph in less than 100 feet.

But I can drift at 50 for 100feet!!!!

Campus Police pulled me over one night because my license plate lights were too dim. I'm not kidding.

Thats about a 1000:1 ratio of bad cop to good cop though. And their job wouldnt be half as dangerous if they weren't all dicks about doing it. Its only dangerous because everyone in the world has a grudge against them and wants to kill them or severly injure them.

First off, nothing personal, but with your attitude set on Prick you'll be treated accordingly. Meantime, I'll keep getting warnings. Bad (and I mean maladjusted, small-minded write you a stack of tickets for illegal ride-height bad, not bank robbing David Mack bad) cops are fewer and further between when you treat 'em with a Coke and a smile and shut the farm up.

Try it. It might work for you too.

Got a fixit in the Porsche once.

Guess I shouldn't have had Bavarian plates, front and rear (and my CA plate in the back window)...hehehe

The price of (misguided) vanity, I guess?
