I had 3M paint protection film installed on my Suburban by a guy based in San Jose,CA associated with material from Xpel.com. His actual business is now www.clearprotectionproducts.com He came to my house an installed it on the hood edge, front bumper, and mirrors. It took about 3-4 hours and $395 (material+labor). A year later, not a single rock chip on any leading edge.
I took the scrap film and added it to the rear liftgate edge, each door edge and the clear portions of the headlights. I have to say this: the labor cost is pricey, but fair enough. When I tried my hand at the "smaller" pieces, I was surprised how difficult it was to work with them. Take a $100 bumper piece and watch how mad you'll be if you screw it up. A good installer is worth it - this guy was definitely top notch. A good example - he was unhappy with how a machine cut piece went on the mirror. He free-handed a new piece and it looks even better. Good luck with your buddy's install. |
