The fact he has to instruct makes me wonder the skill of the detailers. If they screw it up more than ask for them to pay for a professional detail job.

Tell the manager that you're very particular when it comes to your car, and that you want it done right. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

You said that it was a hairline crack. Can you explain more?

That's true I am very particular about my car.

I had my car in for some warranty work and they had washed and detailed my car for me afterwards and when I arrived home I had discovered a lot of hairline scratches. It seems that whoever washed my car had dropped his mitt and had continued to wash it after s/he had picked it back up (at least that is what it looks like).

So like swirl marks? I have always been anal with not having swirl marks, and didn't have them for 3 and a half years. Then I had to get some minor bodywork done and it looks like the guy took a dirty shop rag and wiped the whole car down. Swirl marks EVERYWHERE. That pissed me off.

After being the first to go through the local (reputable) car wash one morning when they first opened, I later found one single scratch on my hood going straight from front to back of the hood, about 1/3 the length of the hood. Spoke to the manager, who had their detail shop buff it out with his orbital buffer (I was watching through the window). Came out perfect.

I make sure I'm not the first person to go through the wash anymore.

LED strip lights in the rear hatch:

I have a strip of lights on order, but decided to prewire them so I am good to go when the strip arrives.

It is pretty simple to add lights that operate off the hatch light (comes on when the hatch is open, after a while reduces to 50% light output, and later will shut off which is how the trunk/hatch light seem to work).

I popped out the rear hatch light to expose the wiring. The Pink wire is hot. I tapped into the pink wire which operates off the hatch switch (goes hot when the hatch is open).

The plastic at the rear of the hatch (that the shade locks into) has an "airbag" emblem. I was a little nervous about messing with it but removing the one black screw in the shade lock area and prying it back reveals that the airbag is not in that area anyway, and provides room to route the wiring easily.

For a ground I did not tap into the switch ground wire, but instead just ran a wire to some bare metal and did my own ground (tested).

I routed both hot and ground wire around the rear hatch washer fluid tube and other wiring and out at the top near the headliner(roof lining).

My plan is to mount the strip inside the car on the headliner. This keeps all the wiring inside the car, and means you don't need to route new wiring through the flexible tubing attached to the hatch.

That area the headliner can be pulled down slightly to hide wiring and also I may add a few holes through it and use twist tie type wire to mount the LED strip (and the strips own adhesive).

The LED strip I ordered is 6 ft long and can be cut, so I plan on figuring out the optimum amount when it arrives and connecting the wires.

The wire I used was from a garage door opener, solid copper core, easy to route. Should be more than sufficient to power an LED strip. I don't plan on adding a fuse because the current draw from the LED should be negigible, but it would be easy to do behind the trim panel (there is a lot of room there to work with).

response back from SOA:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America, Inc.
Through our research and testing of the iPhone 4, the MAP profiles in the iPhone 4 do not allow for this function to perform. It cannot read nor send text messages through the Bluetooth hands-free system in your 2012 Impreza. I am sorry, Paul, as there are no modifications we offer for this functionality of the Bluetooth hands-free system in your vehicle.
This functionality seems to have been changed with the iPhone 5. With the iPhone 5, it seems as if text messages can be received and read through the Bluetooth hands-free system; but, not send text messages. We have not yet performed this testing on the iPhone 5 yet. But, from customer contacts, it seems to operate in this manner.
Thank you, Paul, for the opportunity to be of service.

Sincerely,

John J. Mergen

now as an update with the ios6 update the iphone 4x and 5 will retrieve message, read them...but not allow you to send one back thru the HU.....so its half functional.....you also must set the notification tab to On under the bluetooth function on the phone....hope this helps some!

Does anyone know if the brakes are upgraded in the sport from base?

I'm wondering if 15" steel rims will fit a sport.

Not so much swirl marks per say but just a lot of scratches, I hope they do a good job polishing or I'll be pissed.

Thumbs up Husky Weatherliner available!

Hi guys-
I was going to buy some weathertech digital fit but found this instead:
http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com...r-Floor-Liners

I got it for $91.00 with a coupon I found: EM73GH24
You get $10.00 off so I paid $91.00 vs $101.00

Weathertech's are $170 and have a 10yr warranty vs Husky's Lifetime. Thought I would share this with you guys as I have had weathertech's in my last two cars. The Husky's are also digital fit with the two inch overlap. I just bought it for my 2013 Impreza sport Limited DGM! I love this car!

Cheers!

just did this mod. great thing about having a hatch was it was raining while i did it. i just climbed into the back of the hatch and shut the door and continued. anyways, i was pretty simple. i bought the led strip off ebay. i bought 2 feet but if i were to do it again, i would used 3 feet. i extended the wires using 18 gauge wire and butt connectors. then i used T taps to tap into the light wiring. the light is held on to the roof by velco. holds pretty tight enough. I just wanted the light to turn on and off when i open the hatch. i thought about a switch but i just wanted something simple.

looks like it, but the pin doesn't go through the mat
http://www.huskyliners.com/WeatherBe...r-floor-liners

their x-act fit liners look comparable to weathertechs, i think that is what i'm still going to get.

Those look better than the sample pics. How much of a hassle is the fuel door release?
