Im working on my 08 WRX 5spd manual. Is the center driveshaft 63.5 inches long or 62.5 inches long? I am replacing drive line from engine back. I pulled out the rear driveshaft from my WRX (from transmission to rear differential), and it is 63.5 inches long. All the driveshafts I see for sale on Rock Auto are listed for that car as 62.5 inches long. I am wondering if previous owner installed the wrong driveshaft. The reason I am replacing all this is that that input seal, tranny input shaft bearings, and driveshaft are all destroyed. Metal and parts all thru the diff area and tranny oil. I ordered one from Fleabay and it came pre-destroyed. Frustrated and dont want to order another thing that wont work. I have access to a nice 62.5 inch one for relatively cheap with low miles. I appreciate any info that could help.

Lengths are not common knowledge. I'd say if rockauto says 62.5 is right, go with that.

could be he put a sedan driveshaft in a hatch or vise versa. no bueno eh?

In the past, wagon and sedan shafts have been the same for the same range of years. I see no reason for that to have changed so . . .

Sedan or hatch, it should not matter and they would be interchangeable.
