![]() WRX 6 speed?! No not the famous STI 6 speed, the VA chassis split case 6 speed.
Before we go further someone will inevitably ask why not STI trans and why a weaker WRX 6 speed. First the car is a 2012 WRX GR I picked up for 5000 bucks! Sadly the clutch and 3rd gear we’re toast. Good news I had a full 2015 WRX 6 speed with rear diff and all the shifter box parts and cables I removed from our 2015 that we STI swapped. Also this car will always be stage 1 and not meant to be a power house, it’s a commuter and the 15 wrx 6 speed definitely has better gears for that. Also because I can do all this work myself there is zero labor cost. So here it is. There is no fabrication work required. Simply install the 6 speed and rear diff using your 5 speed clutch, axles and driveshaft. The shifter box bolts right into the trans tunnel no problem. Remove your 5 speed trans harness and switches and place them in the 6 speed. Have your tuner update your gear ratios and enjoy! I added a cheap shifter stop and cable bushing ( not short shifter) and it’s honestly not bad, the shifter stop improves the feel of 1-2 and 5-6 drastically! Sorry I took so little pics. It’s my daily and last weekend was crazy lol. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Interesting. I just assumed the split case 6MT was longer because of the extra gear.
