I don't want the responsibility of putting it together, but does anyone want to make a Payson or Prescott (through Yarnell) run while its still nice and chilly out.

Eastsiders, westsiders, anyone...?

Maybe some Prescott drivers may even want to come down and meet up early here in the valley, make the drive back with us going up, maybe even show us Phoenicians some cool spots up there.

Not a bad idea, we have some of the best mountain roads in the state...imo. If you guys are up for it 89A is always a fun drive going from Prescott up through Jerome, Sedona, and than Flag. You "Phoenicians" could take I-17 South back home from Flag. It makes for a long day but worth it, especially in the Spring. There are quite a few areas on that drive for some photo ops too.

Isn't part of the 89A closed due to the road collapsing and falling away?

That's closer to Page. Hopefully the run wouldn't go that far north.

89A is kinda iffy right now. The road is a little icey in the shaded spots.

Yea, the north side of the mountain just south of Prescott is shaded almost all day, so the ice doesn't melt. I almost **** myself once coming back down. It was just me and my dog in the car so I was pushing it a little. It was 3 seconds of eternity until I passed over the ice. I'd say "drove" over the ice, but it felt more like a I was a hockey puck.

Lesson learned.

Ok that scared me, so I propose that we postpone this run until sometime when its hot as hell in Phoenix and as irritating Phoenicians we can head up north to find cool weather. In the meantime I suggest another S Mountain meet or a run towards Canyon Lake. I havent been in my car for over a week, so I need to find lots of twisty turns pronto. And mud.

What about tortilla flats? Weathers perfect year round for that and it's kinda close by.. Problem is, there's always somebody who acts a fool and drives over the yellow line and wrecks. If we avoid that, it'd be a good time!

The only people Ive seen driving over the yellow line and wrecking are the bicyclists. lol They terrify me but I figure if we have a lot of noisy Subies headed to Tortilla Flats, they will hear us coming. hehe

Whenever this Prescott run gets arranged, I'll be down for that too, except I have no idea where Im going once I get off the highway. It would be nice to meet some northern Subies to show us around too.

Its gotta be kind late for tortilla flats for as little traffic. Hit or miss reallt. Then be REAL quiet getting into the town. The people who live there deal with enough asshats constantly revving their engines there.

I'm headed up to prescott on the 23rd and 24th, but it's for a birthday party. I don't think I'll have time to do any driving around since I plan on being drunk the whole time.

town? its only one old man and his sister...errrr... wife.

this is why we cross the bridge and dont stop till we hit the dirt, let the cars cool down for a while and then when its gets quiet again... we start the engines and break the silence!!

I mentioned this run on AZFullThrottle's message board and they are down. In fact, it seems they're always down. If you guys don't want to do 89 to Prescott, here's one they suggested...

If we had radios or use cell phones we can give people the all clear. There is food in Bagdad, so we could go eat and fuel up there as well.

This one seems to go west at Yarnell instead of north into the icy mountains. Let me know what you guys think.

I would totally go but there's no way my 87 brat would keep up......nor my 98 forester 4eat.

maybe once I restore the brat more and put exhaust/cam/head work into it I can "TRY" and keep up

Sometime next weekend March 16-17? In the morning? Where will Phoenix people meet? Are we going 89 to Prescott or up to Bagdad? (I vote for the Bagdad route) Oh god, what will I wear?? (ok, that was a joke)
