Here is a good one I just found. Please note OP attitude and lack of general knowledge regarding different types of transmissions. It hasnt been locked because some of the vets are being pretty nice and patient.

I'm sorry, you have me misunderstood. I was merely trying to provide another example.

Can we PLEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEE also add how to spell GAUGE properly? Spell check should catch it, and I have a hard time taking any technical knowledge from someone who can't even correctly spell the part they are talking about. I can understand if you call it something different (trailing arms have like 3 different technical names), but if I had a dollar for every time I have seen some moron say guage (which would be pronounced gWAAA-j), I could easily buy myself a set of blingin Defi's.

Lol. Tire and tyre are both acceptable. One is just the limey bastard version.
Guage is not. |

Hahahahah this is the best sticky in a while and should be force fed to noobs before they join. And not one of those... 'check if you read the terms of agreement' type deals. Actually make them read it?
Flames are funny when people get feelings hurt... like that AT bugeye guy, oh the irony and unabomber's response is hilarious too |

I'm probably in the minority here, but let me play devil's advocate; if for nothing else to at least splash a little bit of reality on the parade.
I will say most of what you have there is true, but I think a lot of "gurus" could also do with a little etiquette training. 1. You can never and will never stop the cycle of new people with the same old questions. It's because they're new. You cannot stop it. That's life. As long as people keep breeding, there will always be newbies. You can beat people over the head as much as you want about searching and reading the manifesto but there is more to it than that, which leads me to... 2. Stop using the phrase, "search", "do a search" or any other variation within the post. If you don't wish to contribute to a conversation, don't. You are accomplishing nothing but contributing to the nasioc back-slapping cult of "do a search". Not only that; but you are adding to the S/N ratio as well as giving the "dumb" question a free bump. You've been here a long time and have seen it all... we get it. Simply letting a thread die would be the prudent thing to do. 3. Also related, not everyone has hours and hours and hours to spend here absorbing every detail. There are literally hundreds of threads on key phrases with lots of misinformation that is confusing to sort through. Nasioc is a great database; but is that all you really want it to be? A cold dead database with grumpy old men and women standing around biting people's heads off? 4. Check your enthusiasm at the door newb!! (But it was ok when I was doing it.) Yes we all mature and things are less exciting as we age. But don't belittle enthusiasm. Newbies are like puppy's...you just have to deal with it for a while and then it will get better. As with point one; you will never stop the new litter from showing up at the door step though so with that said; 5. As a guru or a self important all knowing NASIOC expert, how about just not viewing a thread that might piss you off. It's actually quite liberating. Treat it like a T.V. Don't like the channel? Change it! I agree with most of what you said there, but as with just about everything else in life, people tend to start to take themselves quite to seriously. If you feel like you are bashing your head into the wall by reading a post. Either offer constructive suggestions; or step away from the computer. |

I don't think people are reading this.
This morning I've read "Get a frontmount before a tune. You don't need a downpipe until you put on a much bigger turbo, like an 18-20g." "Tinting your headlights won't decrease your light output." |

#1 is the most important AINEC.
Am I the only one who instantly rages when someone misuses "your" or "you're"? Do we really need concrete examples for reference? These are correct: "Your Subaru is nice!" "You're incorrect." These are not correct: "Your a moron!" "You're wheels are ugly." The same thing goes for "it's" and "its". I really don't mind typos and the misuse of commas, but these basics really get to me. |

Get your plastic manifold gold-plated to keep it from cracking and it's totally like gold foil blocking heat.
Kidding. But yeah, I have seen some awesomely stupid stuff posted lately. |
