Hello everyone, I installed the GCS V2 from Subispeed into my 15 with that came with the base radio. I installed it, turned it on to check it out and zero radio reception. Going through here I can get my zero radio reception probably fixed. From my understanding I will need to pull the blue wire from the grey connector and re-pin it to #9 in the connector that goes to the factory harness. No issues with the swc not working. They mapped out just fine with no problem. One other issue that I'm having. Anyone have problems with the EasyConnect app that is loaded on the unit not working right? I'll plug my phone(Android) in via usb and it will detect my phone and start the app. It'll load up and mirror my phone, but instantly freezes up and disconnects like my phone was pulled.

Hey guys
I have an older unit I bought used.

I need some help figuring out how to update the firmware in it.

Is anyone willing to exchange some emails with me to help me figure it out?

Just an update with my radio reception issue, I re-pinned the blue wire going to the grey connector and pinned it to the connector that plugs into to the factory harness. In doing that I got rid of the extra antenna connection and the grey connector all together. Thanks to those who supplied the information. Still scratching my head on the easy connect app.

Hello guys

I am trying to update my firmware

I followed the instructions for the Malaysk rom upgrade, my unit already had a rom of his on it. I get to the point where it shows an animated Subaru logo and it hangs on there, I shut it down and started it again and luckily my unit reverted back to the original settings. Glad its not bricked, what am I doing wrong?

I was able to get my unit updated.

I need help with the side buttons not being illuminated,

I saw that during the update they were lit up and in different colours.

My side buttons are currently off, how to do I toggle them on?

I have been tiring to figure out this GCS APEX radio for most of yesterday and trying to figure out the pin out and how to make it work on my 2016 WRX. I need help I am waiting to hear back from subispeed (were I got it from) I really thought I had checked the option B harness and well apparently I messed up and didn't and can not find anything on the wiring for 2016 yet figured there would be more info or a video for it. Any help is great appreciated!

That's just a setting called reverse volume of some sort, by default its set to off and you can turn it to on.

Google Maps has offline maps

Does anybody with a 2016 WRX base non-nav have the SWC working correctly with the octa core unit? Trying to rule something out.

All SWC buttons send signal but the HU can only differentiate 2 signals. I think possibly the 2016 is a pulse setup rather than running each button at different hertz.

The SWC buttons in 2016 (and 2017 and 2018) are definitely still resistive, like on all previous Subarus that have audio SWCs. The difference between 2011-2015 and 2016-2018 is that Subaru changed from 8 buttons to 11 buttons, and changed all of the resistor values.

You should first confirm that your harness has the 3 SWC wires from the Subaru 28-pin plug connected correctly to the new HU (including having the "common" SWC wire, pin #23, connected to ground). Then use a good ohm meter to measure what resistance values you see at the harness that plugs into your new HU (while everything is unplugged from the HU and with your ignition key off). See this post (ignore where I talk about the ASWC module; just apply the same technique with whichever harness on your new HU has the SWC wires).

If the resistances look good, that may mean that your HU is not able to distinguish all of the buttons (i.e., some of the resistance values are too close together for it to be able to tell them apart). In that case, you might need to use a steering wheel interface module (if your HU will work with one).

But the problem might simply be that your new HU is not programmed correctly to recognize the Subaru 2016-2018 style SWC buttons (perhaps was the HU pre-programmed for the 2011-2015 style?).

Just ordered mine last night from GreenYi on Ali Express. Already got the tracking number from Jack and he has been great keeping me updated even though its only been a day.

Just received my head unit on 9/14/17 at 3:42PM PST. Hong Kong to Seattle, WA in 5 days. I will be installing it later tonight.

How is the sound quality compare to OEM if you have the HK upgrade?

How are call with this unit, what does the person you called say about voice quality. I keep seeing reports of echoing possibly due to both mics being used.

I am exploring this option for my 2017 STI with no HK. Does this improve the overall sound quality as well? What do I need to have everything work as OEM (reverse camera, usb ports, etc.). I want to make it as OEM as possible. Thanks!

I still haven't found any solution to the EasyConnect issue where it connects then disconnects. Insight anyone?
