New to the forums here, name is Devin and I'm from Canada. Bought a stock rs 2.5 about 4 months ago, my first subaru. I added a few basic parts, coils wheels/tires, seats yada yada, here are some pics.

Thanks!
Yeah I wish I could have fit an sti swap into the mix, but that will have to wait a year, subbies are not cheap! I'm going to get the suspension/brakes sorted out for this year before I start adding power. |

I know he's on air, seen the threads. I'll reserve my comments on air for performance over conventional coil/strut suspension. I'm sure it fairs well, but you dont see Nascar/F1/Indy/Any professional race car use air suspension.
Im just saying, the way his/most GC8's look, doesnt fit the slammed style. By slammed in this situation I mean tucking tire and scrapping ass. Aaron's car is a damned fine looking car though! |

Soooooooo not broken... If anything, I've seen the light... Quote:

You can talk all you like, say alll you want, it wouldn't bother me the slightest.... Those that have been on air KNOW better... How many of those professional races do YOU race in?? All I know is that if "I" want to corner weight "my" car, I can sit there for 5min with the controler and press buttons.... What to YOU have to do?? When I lay my car out, and decide it's time to go home, it returns right back to my "corner weighted" position in oh 5sec... Being that I DON'T drive at such an EXTREME low, I don't fear things like RailRoad crossings.... RAILROAD CROSSINGS... I used to pull the seat coushion off the seat at RR crossings (Pucker factor)... no longer... Being that I don't drive at such an extreme low means that the suspension absorbs mid-apex bumps like none I've seen.. Driveways... Who worries about driveways anymore?? however you wanna put it... Yes, I totally did.
Im not trying to stir anything up, just saying what has been said from other people about other cars. "Not my thing." To each there own. Corner balancing aspect is nice, but like my car and all the cars I corner balance people dont come back after a track day and ask NOW SLAM IT! They like driving a balanced lowered car on the streets too. I was just disagreeing with someone who said its '90% performance and 10% looks', if that were the ratio it wouldnt be on air. I've driven both, hard, even on tracks, I will stick with my guns here. Sure, Im no F1 driver but its easy to tell the difference. Have fun with your adjustability, cheers. |

im not trying to start a war either. but im taking sides.
slammed is for some people, not for others. some people slam their cars, mostly for looks but not all people agree it looks better slammed. its not for me. there is a point when it looks too low. some other cars look okay no matter how low you go, but the GC has something about it... |

Some are very specific in thier needs, I'm not, I show the car more than race it, but I'm not one to follow trends in the looks dept, no stretch tires or Brides here.. It's a great "all around" set-up, but like anyone, if I was a hardcore racer I'd likely choose coils... Seeing how I'm a weekend warrior and have to travel 2-3hrs to do ANYTHING (central Mi sucks BTW) it's perfection... I can run to the lot, drop it, show it, when the guys take off for the late night speed runs, I just air up and follow... This thread isn't about track days or autocrossing, F1 or anything of the sort though... What I'm sayin is it's all good... |

Slamming aint nothing new, sheeii!( I still got a few lowrider mags from back in the day) Plus if you have nice Volks to drop them on then even better.
But the real challenge is slammed on 19's and still able to do this, Last edited by jimmythagreek; 06-04-2013 at 02:36 PM. |
