Default SpeedTV cutting WRC coverage

Something I snagged from another board.....

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is an email I received through our local rally group:

Urgent Notice To all American Rally Fans and Competitors

As the Rally season comes to a close, I believe a certain group of
people need to be commended on a particularly good job. What we have seen with this season's coverage of both the WRC and SCCA Pro Rally has been absolutely superb. As many of us have been worried about the fact that Speed TV will be predominantly NASCAR in the near future, now is the time to tell them that you want more rallying. This morning, I spoke with the producer of WRC for Speed TV. I was informed that they may have to cut
back on Rally coverage due to low ratings. With this, Speed TV
suggested a 2 hour show to air 1 week after the event. Although, they also suggested moving the time slot forward to 8 pm so they can possibly gain more viewers.

With the recent visit of Nicky Grist to the WRC television coverage, the program has taken another leap forward with an exciting and new view to this sport. Perhaps next season (with your input to Speed TV) we can have Nicky Grist coverage all season and perhaps get to see him on screen here in the United States and maybe even at our own SCCA rallies. If people can
take just a quick moment of time and email the producers of Speed TV and let them know that theyre doing a great job, and that you would like more Nicky Grist commentary, more WRC coverage, and more SCCA Pro Rally, we can continue to enjoy the sport we all enjoy so much.

Please send all your comments to the following address.
Email: [email protected]

This address is monitored daily by everyone from the top execs. at Speed TV to the program producers. Your comments really do matter!!

If we dont show them feedback we will lose rallying on TV!

Guys and Gals pass this on and post it where ever you can.......You WON'T be stricken with bad luck or anything , but it is very important

-Thanks

Nicky Grist will be back in a car, he misses it too much and to be watching it through a tv and commenting on it doesn't help. Although he certainly turned around the OZ rally with more in depth knowledge and accurate commentating.

Speed should cover all types of motosports and not just promote nascar.

NASCAR. Yuucck. I might find it interesting after I've had my labotomy from Nurse Wratchet.

Boring tracks(ovals, ovals, ovals. did I mention they run ovals), boring restricted cars, no technical development(pushrod, 2 valve per cylinder V8s? give me a frickin break!), nobody drivers who've lived their entire life in the 10 southern states south of Virginia (when they do run a road coarse, half the regular drivers chicken out), and terrible safety standards(how many deaths in the past 5 years? hmm).

And SpeedTV wants to have more of this over World Rally? There is a thriving community of rally and road racing in the US that is doing well with no TV coverage. Nascar on TV; I thought thats what TNN is for :-) Grist said the 2 liter Peugeot engine was cranking out 300 bhp and about 550 ft.lbs of torque!!! that an insance achievement technologically.

What the hell is happening to SpeedTV? I admire people like Derek Daly who refuses to jump on the Nascar bandwagon. I think he's a minority at Speedvision these days. I sent an email to speedTV requesting not only that they maintain the current times and hours of WRC (at a minimum) but that they also eliminate all the nascar show ads on speedTV during WRC broadcasts. enough already! 90% of the people who watch WRC don't like Nascar. Its like oil and water. They don't mix. So why in hell do they insist on showing at least one Nascar show commercial during every break?? Its annoying.

Enough of my rant, but SpeedTV has gone downhill in the last few years.

If they do reduce the speed coverage of the WRC then we should write or email Subaru to get them to stop advertising on the channel or push to keep the coverage.

how many times have you seen the hip dude commercial during the wrc coverage

Good point..

You mean the "this is my favorite part" guy? Enough. Thats for sure. At least every other commercial break. Perhaps 5 or 6 times per one hour show.
