The work light thread. What do you use/like?
Post up you favorite or hated work/shop lights.
Here are mine. Larry C work light. •170 lumens •3 AAA batteries. •Pocket clip has strong magnets, with swivel. By far my favorite light!!!! Great light output and really brightens up the work space. This thing is versatile, easy to place anywhere on/under the car (except the aluminum hood, but the splitter, latch and hinges work). I don't yet know how well the battery life is. So far 8+ hours on the batteries. They make a 400 lumen one too!!! I'm definitely going to get the 400 lumen one! Craftsman work light Model#: 73904 •No lumen rating given except 35 individual LEDs. •rechargeable (110 v or 12 v adaptors). •4 light modes (main panel, spot, panel/spot combined, flashing) It's a good overall light. It bathes the area overall but it does not truly give the brightness I like. The magnet is just ok. It slips and does not rotate well enough. The battery life is only about 4 hours, so it'll leave you dark on the big jobs. I hate scrolling through the modes to turn it off. I do use it, but there are much better out there. Defiant LED Flexible Work Light •200/250ish lumens (I can't confirm). •3 AA batteries •Flexible wand with good strong magnets at base. •3 light modes (bright, dim, lamp modes) I lucked out and found this light in an abandoned building. It's versatile and has a very good output. The battery life is good at around 8 hours on the bright mode. Having to scroll though all the modes to turn it off is annoying though.

That looks fantastic. It's probably not the best at tight spots but that looks like it really lights up the work area well. It's definitely a shop only light. You can't keep that in the glovebox, but that's not what it's made for. |

yeah its not an end all solution, but for any under hood or interior work, its about the best there is. after its clamped on the hood or roof, it can rotate quite a bit to aim the light where you need it.

I'm using the Nebo (2 of them) as well as another brand that I'll look up. Reason for two, no warning when the charge is expended. Light just abruptly turns off. Has caught me a couple times. I'm also using headlamps by various companies. I might order the Nebo headlamp and try it. Also have an old rechargeable underhood light, but it won't stay on for more than 3-4 hours now, down from 8 plus hours new.

Yes it's a great idea to have backups. I've been left in the dark on a few occasions. I have a Black diamond headlamp that I like. I should have posted that too. |

i use the same thing as your crasftman stick light but mine is made by mastercraft. aside that i have a few plug in spot lights hanging in my garage that suck way too much hydro for not enough light lol...
i like the stick light though. mines got a magnet bottom so i can stick it lots of places. i might get a few more as they were $30 and provide alot of light for what they are. |

Well I got the Big Larry by NEBO.
It's slightly bigger than the Larry C I have but is more than twice as bright. Very strong magnetic base. 3 light modes 400 lumen for 4.5 hours 160 lumen for 15 hours Red flash for 40 hours. 3 AA batteries. This thing is BRIGHT!!! Last edited by Bikelok; 03-28-2017 at 11:55 PM. |

Okay, I'll be that guy.

I use one for work. Fenix makes great lights at a reasonable cost. Headlamps are great and I like them, I just never used one while working on a car. I will say there is something to be said about bathing an area with light that does not move around when you move your head. I'll try one next time. |

I bought a couple of these LARRY Boss Nebo lights, magnetic base, flashlight and magnet in the end. I like it very much. And I picked up a Nebo headlight going to try that as well. |

Never had a need for anything more. Being able to adjust the angle of the light has come in handy more than once. |

True, it doesn't get into every nook & cranny, but does a pretty good job of lighting up everything else |

Zebra light broke sitting in my car. Went back and forth with them to get a replacement, they had me send it back. Returned it to me saying nothing wrong and I used the wrong 18650 (wrong, I measured and used an 18650 meeting their spec's). They shipped it back with their battery. It worked, for like 3-months.... I use cheap dual 18650 Chinese head lamp for daily and kept the Zebra in the car for emergencies; since its better, because it cost almost 4x what my china light cost, and must be reliable, right? Im on my second China lamp in 6 years, first one just gave up last year. Before 18650's I used a Petzl head lamp and it held up for several years.

I'm another proponent of using a head light.. Life saver in most cases. I've got a cheapy off of Amazon, but its the most handy yet. It always shines where you are looking
My other work light is the run of the mill Craftsman LED shop/drop light. These put out a TON of light, don't really get hot, and are pretty durable to getting dropped or banged around. Don't overlook good lighting in your shop/garage in general. I have a couple of the 8' high output florescent light fixtures mounted in my garage that provide GREAT light. |
