I plan on reusing the DEI TI blanket on the Tial housing when I test this adapter plate.

No doubt! I feel fortunate to have e85 all over the place here. I haven't had 93 in my car since last July.

Last summer through fall I was paying anywhere from $2.09 to 2.80/ gallon for it. Right now it's anywhere from $2.89 3.10/ gallon here.

Haha, not credit but I just put the idea out there and helped to get this concept started. Chris and Killer be did all the real work here as you can tell!

It's not that unique and something similar has been done before. It does help to solve the issue of added turbulence and back pressure created by the Subaru stock location turbine housing.

Edit: I'll add that all I really want to personally benefit from with this is to realize the gains on my own car and to help the Subaru community by addressing issues like with the SL turbine housing.

This looks like pretty normal spool for a 30r sized turbo paired with a tiny .63 hotside and the dyno done in 4th gear.

Have any 3rd gear dynos for a more even comparison? 4th gear spools the turbo quite a bit faster than 3rd gear. For instance my hta86 with .82 hotside hit full boost at 4125 rpm in 4th on the 07 sti gearing, and and fullboost around 4650 in 3rd LOL...

I like the setup. It looks smooth. 30r's on subarus with aftermarket tmic's make a pretty awesome combo. I ran a 3076 .82 with avo tmic on e85 back in 2009 and it was my favorite setup to this day. I'm just too power hungry to ever step back down to 30r power wise...Lol...

Awesome setup. Crank up that boost a bit

When I drove the car home for lunch I did a few 3rd pulls to boost. There was traffic so I couldn't do much more. Looks to be in the 15-20psi range ~3,100RPMs but that needle swings FAST. Started the pulls in the 1,500-2,000RPM range.

Yeah Vince, you could use one of these kits on your STI with the Dom 1.5xtr. It would spool quicker than your VF did!

No tial housing will work with the 1.5xtr as it uses a cut down 30r turbine and not the full 60mm 30r turbine wheel.

What's the wheel size of the 1.5? I want to say 56.5. Wouldn't you have to enlarge a 28 housing to fit that?

I'd call mike Malin at Blouch and find out from him. What's a 28R turbine wheel dimension? 53.xx mm? Like with my Dom 3.5 and the 4 that use a 64 mm garret turbine wheel. Blouch will take the. 60 mm 30R housing and machine it to fit the 64 mm wheel.

I'll put money on the fact that they can use the 28R housing for the Dom 1.5. If you check with Blouch then please post up your findings here.

Can you show me 1 please? Just curious not calling you out or anything. I have tuned a bunch of 30R sized turbos with both .63-.82 housings and NONE have ever made FULL boost in 4th gear at or even close to 3k rpms.. Im not talking 15psi either, I mean FULL boost 21-22psi on 93oct by 3k.

First let me just say I am not trying to take anything away from any bodies work in this thread or anything. Re reading my post it seemed like I was coming off that way but it was never my intent. Great job to everyone involved. I dig the tmic 30r setups.



This is the run I was thinking of. Its the old regular 3076. If he got some better load on it during the higher psi run I think it would have spooled a lot sooner on that one also. Plus this is FMIC on top of it all. This wasn't even using the tial .63 housing either just the regular old garrett...

To be honest that first boost plot in the op I thought was a stage 2 Sti the first time I read it. I thought it was for comparing the 30r spool, the road dyno for the 30r shows fullboost around 3175rpm so that threw me off ...I just re read it and noticed that is the 30r spool, that is impressive spooling at 3000rpm. Do you have any logs showing spool up?

Anyways great job can't wait to see it on E85!

^ That's about what we were seeing with the GTX3071, which makes sense since the GT3076 flows 1lb less than the GTX3071. So they are similar in that respect.

I'm going to try and dig up my old GoPro and get some clips of just going through the gears and dipping into the throttle. Someone else asked what RPM is it hitting full boost in 3rd; ~3,100-3,200RPMs by my eye, but that needle swings VERY fast.

Data log is what you need.

Videos etc are too hard to get hard data from. When spending hard earned $ nobody wants to just hear that you watched the needle hit at 3k rpm, they want to see the data for themselves. Data logs will tell you at exactly what rpm you hit full boost at, fast needles swinging and trying to record that while tearing up the streets is much more difficult and not as clear/precise.

It's not that hard to do in reality. Plus once you know how to data log your car you can watch what's its doing much more closely. Also it would probably help sell more of your product!

You guys are both right. I personally like a vid with an AP (throttle position) boost and tach in the shot. This way not only can you see what's happening when, but you can also hear the onset of power and the reaction to boost. Not that datalogs aren't useful, I just prefer to see and hear what's going on. Collecting datalogs is easy (easier than getting a decent video) so I'm not opposed to getting both

Correct. The GTX3067 is used here. It is a hybrid turbo and works really well. This is coming from a guy who's previous favorite was the GTX3071 and is not easily impressed.

Same here man, when I opened up the log I was like WTF, wrong car.. We did it again, and again it hit like a stg2 car on e85 then pulled like a 30r out back. I was smiling the whole ride back to the shop.

ok it spools well but when does it start falling on its nose? you only revved it out to 6000 as far as i can tell?
