Pioneer AVH series, Kenwood DDX series, Sony XAV series, JVC KW-AV series, Clarion VX series...

http://www.crutchfield.com/g_168550/....html?tp=20220

All have units under 400$, all have a WIDE array of features (most that the AVIC carries, 1/3 the price) most are touch screen (though it gets old)....

Balls in your court..

If you're an iPhone user, I wouldn't buy any touch screen head unit right now. None that I've seen can play video off the iPhone 5.

If you don't care about video... I'd get one that works off a standard USB/iPhone cord, rather than something unique, just so you don't have to deal with the (somewhat pricy) 30-pin to lightning adapter.

Also, look at youtube videos of whatever head unit you consider... when I was shopping around (back in Jan or maybe Feb), seeing how laggy some of the interfaces are helped me decide. There's more to a head unit than the numbers on its spec sheet.
