Ok, I just got back from Costco. I talked to the sales guy there and he was a moron. He only had a non-working demo SGN. He had no idea when the SGN would be for sale, but thought that there would be a package. He then decided to lecture me about how Nexus phones were over hyped and every one has been a "flop" in the past. I told him about the on-time updates and he said that wasn't true and every Nexus had been plagued with major hardware and software flaws that rendered the phone useless. He finally recommended that I go with the RAZR or Infuse (?). It was a terrible interaction and made my brain hurt. At one point he said there wasn't even any cool docks for the SGN like there is for the RAZR.

On the plus side, the phone felt great in my hand and wasn't too big feeling at all. It felt more comfortable than the RAZR and it was pocketable. I can't wait.

Agreed. I visited a Verizon store the other day and the guys there were actually pretty cool. I mentioned the Nexus and they said they were all waiting on it as well, and that the demo unit they played with was incredible. I half expected them to point me toward the RAZR, but only one of them mentioned it and it was only when I asked about the Droid 4 (my brother is a diehard QWERTY user).

Maybe because they would rather sell a phone NOW, then hope you come back to their store, and find them whenever this mythical nexus drops.

Can't wait for something like this to be a bit more mainstream and manufactured by a more trusted brand.....

Defending lying, commission-sucking corporate sellouts?

Man, that's a new low.

I'm am not sure how that is defending them. Either way they are talking someone out of what they want for their own interests, which is sleezy. I am just pointing out that any salesman is going to try and sell you something on the spot vs letting you leave. That is common sense.

They very well could be getting more commission on it, but but it wouldn't surprise me if they were just bull ****ting to sell a phone, then and there.

Cronic has a point. It's just the nature of sales.

Called the third party retailer I plan on getting the Nexus from and they said tthey're getting 4 tomorrow.

There is no more commission from selling a Nexus vs the Razr. It is broken down into Data phones vs Basic phones, with more or less money depending on what type of phone you're coming from. Cronic is pretty spot on, it is just a matter of getting something sold today instead of later. It is how the salesmen are trained.

Funny, I just happened to be in a Verizon store today picking up something for a client, and while I was briefly checking out the smartphones a saleswoman immediately approached me and started pushing the RAZR on me. I asked her about the Galaxy Nexus and her words were, "Oh, we're all waiting on that one, but it won't be out for a looooong time!" after which she started trying to sell me a RAZR again.

I seriously, seriously doubt there isn't a higher commission for Motorola phones and the razr is the flavor of the week so they're pushing it. Unless they're ALL that stupid.

As a VZW employee I can tell you that there isn't a higher commission on Motorola phones. They did just start a sales contest though where employees can win a Razr by selling more Motorola phones.

I own a Razr mainly because I got sick of waiting. I won't claim it is better than one phone or another, but I like it.

I was going to get a Razr. Then I decided I'd just keep my TBolt until my contract is up, then....maybe get a smartphone elsewhere...that's cheaper.

I guess, but the chances of winning are so slim that the only retards actually trying to win are probably the same idiots who don't even know what the Galaxy Nexus is.

Not trying to add to the rumors, but I like the looks of this "official looking" flyer

$649 for off contract on the 32gb is not a bad deal.

whats the difference between the GSII and the GSII skyrocket on ATT? is the skyrocket just the "epic 4g" on Sprint (same phone, bigger screen and battery)??
