Basic Question on tires/wheels
I'm interested in purchasing some Rota SDR Wheels with:
7x7.5" +48mm offset, 5x100(56.1) Will I be able to put my stock 06 WRX tires on these? I don't want to buy new tires yet and was hoping I couple just swap my tires onto these rotas.

Why not? They are both 17's and the SDR's are not wide. No problem.

yeah, you can...
but.. IMHO you'd be ALOT happier buying better tires for your stock wheels something like a 225/45-17 Hankook R-S2 or Proxy 4 etc.. then keeping your stock tires for winter.. |

And IMHO, people should recommend RS-2's, 615's, etc. a lot less for the street. If you're not competing, theres no reason to buy competition designed tires that will last 15-20k. I'm sure for street driving, giving up .02 g's of lateral grip for doublee the wear would be a better idea. But in any case, telling him to buy two sets of all seasons certainly isn't good advice. |

the proxies 4's or even their T1-S is a far better tire than his OR RE92..
have you even used one of either??? |

You really missed the point. You told him to keep his stock tires for the winter. So it wouldn't make sense for him to buy an all-season to run only in the spring and summer. What a waste that would be. Theres no good reason to pick an all-season for fair weather ONLY driving. If you would have said the TS-1 instead of the Proxes 4, we wouldn't be having this conversation, as that would be a good choice for him. Unfortunately, you didn't. Again, you told the guy to buy a set of all-seasons, and hold onto the poor performing all-seasons for the winter. That is bad advice on many many levels. First, what the hell benefit is it to have an all-season that you only run in the summer? Obviously, he should get a set of summer tires to compliment his winter all-seasons. Second, if anything, your want him to run the Proxes (give the spelling one more try... )in the snow, because they are a good bit better than RE92's. So when old man winter comes around, you'd have him pull his better all-seasons off and throw on a set of craptenza's... <-- You're defending that advice? My whole reason for keeping stock tires is I would rather spend the money on snow tires for my stock wheels untill my stock tires wear out.
