You may want to check your paint. The enzymes in raw eggs will eat your paint. Your clear coat may be screwed.

OP...sucks but it could be way worse. In the projects here, they throw bullets. The poop is kind of funny. It sucks, but kind of funny.

I did calm down in college, but mainly because I was very focused on getting into med school and a single run-in with the law could have messed all of that up

Building explosive things turned into building gaming computers and learning about cars .

If you haven't, go to the police and report this.

You were effectively shot at with a gun, regardless of the fact that it was a "potato launcher". Had the window been down could someone have, say, had damage to an eye or the ear?

Who cares what kind of projectile it was and the method of distributing it, it's a gun. Period.

What's next, a pumpkin dropped off of an overpass? A paint-gun at close range? Screw that.

If the police basically laugh this off, go to your local paper and/or the local CT news.

Just wait until someone shoots at a car with this potato launcher and the car owner and/or passenger shoot back using a real gun. Wouldn't that be nice.

I came into this thread expecting some serious damage. Was pretty surprised by a picture of an intact window. The spud guns I've built would've gone through both sides of the car, and killed anybody in the way.

Shooting cars is a really stupid thing to do...

It was a girly sized potato cannon compared to what we built when I worked at a place in NH. Built from PVC sewer pipe, going down to 2" pipe over 6 feet long. Hair spray as propellant and many brands were tried to get the best one. Our first real shot with the thing was an attempt to get over our company parking lot and across the road. about 150 yards. We shot high and it went over the road, over the building parking lot and over the building across the street. Well over 300 yards and was a good 100 feet in the air still.

A potato out of that would have gone through your window, through the car and through the other window pretty easily........ Good thing you didn't have a bunch of nerd engineers in that project.....

He probably loaded the cannon himself. Pooping in a pipe ftw.

Potato cannons don't have to be hair spray fed to be classified as a firearm. Air powered are also considered firearms. And coming from someone who has built LOTS of potato cannons, be glad that was most likely a hair spray model. Air powered cannons have A LOT more kick to them, it might have sent that through your window. I quit building air powered ones though, they scared me too much. 100 psi of compressed air has a stupid amount of potential energy, and PVC doesn't show up on x-rays.

I wrapped my reservoir in like 10 layers of duct tape in case of shrapnel

seriously. sorry this happened to you.

if youve been outside the us, it really opens your eyes to the fact that a steadily increasing percentage of our country lacks respect with regards to personal property and even more importantly, our country. people litter everywhere, destroy things that arent theirs and its probably due our decline in quality education and lack of good parenting/ role models.

another way to look at it is boys will be boys.

I actually really prefer building compressed air ones, because it's impossible to control chamber pressures accurately with hair spray or propane.
