I don't have personal experience running it, since all of my cars use Extra-S but I can tell you that this might work for a few hundred / thousand miles BUT I have had many customers come in complaining of noise and grinding when shifting after running this cocktail.

When I drain it, it looks like someone murdered a smurf and it comes out in chunks of goopy blue-green crap.

After putting Extra-S or Motul back in, running for a few hundred miles, and changing it again with Extra-S or Motul, the transmissions is back to "normal".

Based on that, I wouldn't recommend this cocktail to anyone.

Also, I have met Uncle Scotty in person before. He's 110% douche. Tried to start a few fights at our meet. He would just walk up to people he didn't know and start talking trash about their car.

He is no longer welcome to our meets.

Not enough nopes. Why would I want to put this cocktail into my car after seeing what it does to customer's cars?

I met him scotty once too. Not even worth talking about, so I don't blame you.

Well I have a ppg straight cut 1-4. Started running into synchro issues going into 4th. I have been running adrewtechs mix. Which has worked well for me, but now I am considering going back to Subaru extra-s. I read online that Subaru doesn't offer this oil anymore, is this true? And its only available at the dealership right?

I feel that the synchro may need to be replaced, if not then its the broken down gear oil causing the issue, wanted to try a fluid change first.

Thanks for the help.

Fairly sure you can still get it. I bought a 5 gallon drum of it a few months ago.

almost everybody had 'issues' before they put 'the coktail' in it......and/or they used the wrong products because they are stupid

and there is no reason that anything used in the mix should have ANY deliterious effects on anything in the transmission...so your claims are dubious at best

there are thousands and thousands of happy users all over the world who use this with great reults......there must be a reason that some have poor results....the trans was all done when they put it in or they used the wrong thing...or they left it in too long and had the same results they woulda had if they left any other lube in the trans too long

and the v3 cocktail uses the HEAVYWEIGHT shockproof which isnt as prone to degrade as the lightweight...so it isnt blue, either

Key word, "may." I'm not sold either way, yet. Can an expert weigh-in, please? I just ran with the wrx power pack from redline after considering the cocktail formula for quite some time, but eventually went with the redline assuming a performance oil company has more resources to test, etc.

redline dont drive subarus

and many who have followed their 'advice' on fluids have regretted it.....for almost 10 years now

now...i have tried MANY different lubes in my cars and others who i know personally and who have posted here.....

and much of it is in this thread ALREADY.....so im not gonna do your homework for ya

but...anyway...dont use the lightweight shockproof...it wears out...way too quickly....my best lesson learned from the v1 cocktail

i wont publish the v4 cocktail, and dont ask unless we've met and i know you.

Why would rallysportdirect get behind the product then, in that case? Does rallysport have a share in Redline or something?

well...its like HAWK brake pads...every vendor wants to sell them to you

because they make SO MUCH money on them when they sell them to you

see???

and i wouldnt run hawk HPS pads on my car if they were free...in fact i threw away HPS pads that had ~500 miles on them cuz they sucked so bad

but lots of guys DO buy them and pay WAY TOO MUCH...and THINK they are all k00 an ****

but I know better

same thing with using the wrong thing in the trans...it may seem OK for a month or 2....before it starts grinding and sucking real bad and ya hating life....but ya dont change it out because ya spent $$$ on it so ya keep on keepin on and in the end ya buy a new trans from....who???

yeah.

what exactly do you expect to see?

Look around, pay attention, read more than you write and figure it out from there.

expecting incontrovertible proof to ever appear is naive.

I think you'd be better just driving to the dealership, handing over your money, and letting them put whatever they want in the car. That way you don't have to make a decision yourself. And after all, the dealership guys are experts...

you're absolutely right. it's not worth trying $50 worth of fluids on the (likely) chance it will fix a $2000 problem

you're aware that it makes NO difference to scotty whether you ignore him or not right? you ignore him to YOUR peril, not his. his reasoning in HELPING everyone is purely altruistic. he doesn't benefit in ANY way.

in his position i would have personally sold the recipe to a particular shop to sell as their in-house magic gearbox fluid that nobody ever knows the recipe for and made a fortune off of it. just think about how many $thousands this has saved in gearbox rebuilds over the years, and therefore how many $thousands it could have made in profit.

but he didn't. think about that for a second.

In my experience, the drinks are great.

Half the people who get there undies in a bunch over Uncle Scotty are probably using his cocktail anyway.

yeah...that HAS come up over the years....and when all this started back in 2002 and 2003......it was discussed all sorts of ideas thrown around

but i said that it wasnt a good idea---for many reasons....and that was back when the board and the vast majority of its members were 'cool' and NOT 'k00'

oh well

these n000bs will NEVER know...and that's fine with me.

just
fine.

Quick question for you Scotty, I got sold some penzoil 80w 90 instead of castrol and told it was the same. Is it gonna work or should I go exchange it? I know he had a bit of trouble finding the castrol which is why he gave me the penzoil. Ice read through a bunch of this thread so I'm not being a lazy **** but I wanna be koo when I do my trans swap next weekend and this is the way to do it.
