Question Kenwood DDX7015

Has anyone bought this unit and installed it? I've tried to find a place to look at it in person, but I can't find anyone local. It looks like something that should be stock in place of that P.O.S. stock unit.

If you've got a DDX7015 installed...post the results...I think it should be a sweet fit for a WRX

I just picked the kenwood up last week. It's a great unit for 1300. Instal was easy and it looks great in the dash and not to obvious. The screen is nice. Not the best I've seen but good enough. There is some glare issues with it though, but not terrible. It sounds great and has plenty of power for 4 speakers.
The UI is very easy to use once you learn the little shortcuts. DVD's look great but the screen is a little small. ( no choice on a double din unit.) I looked at the Eclipse and this and I liked the kenwood for price and performance. I would recomend the Kenwood to anyone.

Anyone have a good source to get this unit cheaper? I want it but $1300 is still a little steep for my tastes.

I would love to see a pict of it in the dash. Does the red illumination match the STI's fairly well? Thanks

Yes the red matches and also the green. I keep it green due to the fact that the red is kind of hard for me to see at night. I would post a pic but I am not sure how to. I could email one to you both if you would like. On price I think 1300 is the cheapest you'll find right now. It's still a fairly new unit on the market.

If you've got digital pictures of day and/or night...definitely email them...I'm glad too finally find someone who has the 7015 and is happy with the unit...I looked at the esclipse as well as, but it was so much more money...not sure that it was really worth it at this stage...i'd rather spend the 1200+ on performance parts...thanks for your help

Nice, got mine installed last weekend. I see you got the new 05 as well.

Had a heck of a time getting that radio cover panel apart. No real good place to pry off the top since everything is flushed tight. I just prayed to the all mighty that it would not snap and gave it a big yank and it popped off.

Also got a big surprise with those bottom two screws that you have to take the shifter cover off to get access too first.

Hehe yeah i had mine installed at a stero shop. Installed steros in my other cars that were old but i want to keep the 05 nice and clean. They hooked up the video safey so you cant watch a dvd while you are driving. They told me how to ground it but i am not sure if i want to cause you can get in a lot of trouble if you get in an accident and they find out your video works while driving.

By the look of it it seems that the trim piece round the headunit would not fit, is this right or did you leave it off
