Default vf39 for an 18g on STi what do i need to get it right?

So I have a friend who is selling his 03 wrx with an 18g barely used. I have 103k on my sti now and was want to start moving into modes over $200. Anyway if I swap him what will I need to get started for example will my injectors work or will I need bigger ones. I know I will need gaskets of course but what else will be needed for the install and get me going until I can get it tuned in month?

Thanks
Tom

I am from LJ TX. Went to Brazoswood High back in the 80s. Man I had some fun down there.

To push that 18G you need 650s at least and a FP. I would replace my gaskets also.

get it tuned when you install it. running a 18g on the stock map is not a great idea. while you have the turbo out, i would reccomend doing a turbo inlet pipe as its the easiest time to do it. other than injectors, gaskets, coolant (to top it off), fuel pump, and a tune, you should be all set. mods like a turboback, EBCS, and a drop in filter all are nice.

Thanks for the info, I do have the regular mods already like tbe & intake w/ inlet, wanting to go a bit bigger now. I will save 1st cuz have just enough for the turbo & gaskets right now.

You can get away with just installing the turbo with a tune. If you want to get the most out of the turbo you have to do fuel pump and injectors.
You can install any turbo and tune it to the limits of your injectors but you will not reach the limits of the turbo. Your limit will be the fuel system.

good info defiant... thats pretty much it... you can only make as much power as your/tune injector will let you... other than that its boom boom
