The Perrin blanket is thinner from my recollection that the PTP, and on my OXT I was able get both the Perrin blanket and the OEM heat shield over a VF-52 without interfering with the WG. I have just the PTP blanket on my 1.5xtr and I would likely need a larger heat shield to get over that. If you are running a more stock size turbo why not try to get both on?

I'm running just the Perrin blanket on my 1.5xtr but just ordered a grimmspeed heat shield to fit.

shield generally keeps the heat from transferring all around the engine bay, keeping temps down and not cooking lines/hoses and such.
I believe the blanket is more for optimal turbo performance but it traps more heat in the turbo as well |

I'm running a PTP blanket, the OEM heat shield (modified to fit my Cobb DP) and an SPT heat shield I got for cheap.
Heat soak is practically a thing of the past for me! |

I'd say both. Why not. I did the PTP black blanket, Cusco heatshield and lined the underside of the heatshield with gold foil. Heat is the enemy so the more the merrier IMO. I hear that keeping the heat within the turbo will help with air flow thus pushing the air out of the exhaust faster.

read all of my infrared threads, take the information and make the best decision for you and your wallet. After all of my camera and product experience, if I had to choose to only have one product under my hood it would be the PTP Lava Blanket. The Lava Blanket has many more benefits than a heat shield alone does. www.ptpturboblankets.com <---------------go here for all the info then go here to buy one ----------------------------> http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2445720 Last edited by HeroCrank; 01-26-2013 at 11:50 PM. |

Blanket if just one, and to correct a couple of post above, "trapping" heat in the exhaust aside of the turbo isn't bad. Hotter air flows faster. That's why you wrap headers and up pipes to get the air to spin the turbine as fast as possible.
