JE Ultra Series Pistons
Hey Nasioc,
JE has revealed their Ultra Series Piston ( " Ultra Series pistons are the cream of the crop, combining all of JE’s premium features into a ready-to-ship shelf part. Ceramic crown treatment, lateral gas ports, Perfect Skirt coating, accumulator grooves, thick-wall wrist pins, double pin oilers, and a premium, carbon-steel ring pack are all part of the winning formula. In addition to the all-star feature list, Ultra Series pistons incorporate a revolutionary, new forging style that strengthens the piston at the material level outward. Grain-Flow Optimization is a breakthrough, and proprietary, piston forging technology and the result of tireless research and development of the in-house JE forging process. For the first time, engineers are able to precisely control metal grain direction around key structural elements of a piston, such as the crown and pin bosses, for exceptional strength improvements. All these traits combine to make the new Ultra Series the most technologically advanced, and feature rich, JE piston line to date. " ) They look pretty well put together and offer them in 99.75 @ 8.5:1 which is what most people are going to look into purchasing! Im kinda excited because i was just about to order JE FSR Pistons and the rep told me if i do not mind waiting to check out these when they release! I liked the brochure for it below! https://www.performancemotorsports.e...JE-Pistons.pdf

i like my JE pistons (9.5:1 2.1 stroker pistons and 650cc piston in honda XR600). they run real quiet even being forged and loose in the bore.

It may have something to do with availability and price point, but maybe someone from IAG will chime in to correct me if that's not the case. There are more factors than quality to consider when pricing built block packages. Also, at the power levels most of us use these 2618 pistons, it's rare you see a post with the cause of failure being the piston. Of course builders see a lot more than we see here. Forum failures are usually a tuning or oiling issue. It also seems like the manley heavy duty sets are priced a good bit higher than the JE, not sure why, but that could be a factor as well. |
