It depends on if they go into Chapter 7 or Chapter 11. I doubt Ford is going to go under.. Chrysler is prime candidate for it though. Maybe a 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel fully loaded for 22k.. No Warranty and No guarantee for part availability.

Ford isn't going under. They've publicly said they have enough cash on hand that they don't need a bailout.
Chrysler is a goner though me thinks. I hope someone picks up Jeep, 'twould be a shame to see it disappear. |

Airlines went chapter 11 many times and they were never any "deals".
My thinking is that you'll see fewer products and higher prices rather than any deals for the consumer. However if you're looking for an old auto or parts factory and all the equipment in there, then there might be deals for you. |

The biggest difference I see between the airlines and this deal is you get a service from the airlines and a long term product from the auto companies. As long as I get from here to where I want, I don't care what name is painted on the plane. When the trip is over, so is our relationship. No one will buy a car from a bankrupt car company. |

I was around when the airlines first started going bankrupt. The argument was then that people would be afraid to fly because of substandard safety from a bankrupt airline. Now the argument that people won't by from a bankrupt car company is silly. All they do is reorignized themselves and come bank as a "new" company. Look what Datsun did when they became Nissan. Look how Hundai droppped out of the US market and then came back. |
