For Vanity Plate Owners: How do I switch to a Vanity Plate?
So, I finally got my real tag, about two months after I got the car. But I want a vanity plate. I was told by the dealer that I would have to take any old number and then would have to take that one in and pay the difference on a vanity plate.
My birthday and tag renewal is the last week of November. Should I just wait? And those of you that have one, what is the procedure? Never having had a vanity plate, I need to know. Thanks!

I'd just wait. Here in NH, you pay only like $5 extra for a vanity plate (plus the original cost of them). When you register the vanity plate, it costs the same as a regular registration plus that $5. What they had me do when I first got them is use the old plate as temps and put the vanity one on when the new one arrived in the mail. Sometimes, they give you 20 or 30 day temp tags until the vanity plates come in. It's all really going to depend on the state. Here in NH, I can go to the town clerk and register the car. In Mass, you have to go to the DMV hell lines to do so.

Try this:
http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/specialt...cialindex.html It'll show you special plates, or try: http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us Its also cheaper to wait until renewal time. I'd order the plate at least 90 days in advance since it takes a while for the prisioners to make and spell them correctly. Edit: fixed second link. Do tell what you're thinking of! And when you do go in, have at least 6 or 7 alternates...in case what you want is taken already.
I really wanted GOALIE-but alas that was not available... 2nd choice was GLTNDR (goaltender) But that wasn't available either! so I've got one that takes some thinking... GL10DR (goal-ten-der) |

No problem. Glad to be of help. Did you see that you can even download the form and send it in without setting foot inside a tax collectors office?

I just waited in line at the tax collectors office and filled out a form. I took about 6 weeks but now I have my "USA WRX" license plate.
