![]() Are upgrades of any value if you don't have the STI?
I have a 2016 WRX w/ 62K miles that I would like to get a little more intimate with. I haven't driven it as much the past couple of years, and would like to upgrade it - not just for power, but also to keep 'er nice for a long while. I could go all out financially, but I would rather do what makes sense for the long run. Nice OP also, even if it's 16 years old. |

![]() It's great that so many people are so enthusiastic about, modifying their Subarus. That said whether my 2011 WRX or the various other performance vehicles, I've owned, the path that has always been the most fun was some additional power but more importantly a setup that lets me use what's there.

![]() 400 whp is slow. May "feel" fast to people who drive under 30 mph tho.

![]() I really appreciate you sharing your detailed insights on building the ultimate street setup for an STI. Your breakdown of the different components and their impact on performance is very informative, especially for those considering modifications.

![]() Hello everybody. I m from Europe. I saw a conversation about 400 horsepower, so I'm asking you to help me in anyway you can. I have a racing subaru impreza for hillclimb races (EJ207 engine). Now the engine should have around 370hp. I have the following parts: a larger tmic (should hold around 500hp), apexi avcr boost controller, bigger radiator, stronger air and water pipes, other ecutek folder, a bigger air filter, racing exhaust manifolds, home made exhaust from inox (diameter 83mm ), bigger fuel pump (340l/min), turbo ihi vf35 and the original injectors, which should have been slightly modified, exedy racing clutch, dogbox gearbox 5 gears gr.N, lsd rear differencial Kaaz and more and more. I want to have a little bit more power. I am looking for turbo Kinugawa Td05-20g and bigger injector 750cc or 1050cc from Deatschwerks. Does anyone help me with some informations is this a good idea to have about 400hp?
Best regards, Gregor |

![]() Sorry im not much help just wanted to say stay away from the kinugawa turbos their just to much miss on what their advertised. It did not take me five minutes find something about pre-hawk transmission cannot handle the torque from a 20g turbo their may be other things to research what works.

![]() Hello,
Thanks for answer. I have racing gearbox, which is strong enough gor 600hp and 700Nm od torque (In paid 7000€ for gearbox). I have also racing lsd rear and front diferencials, racing clutch, racing rear and front sway bar from Whiteline, rear and front strut tower from Whiteline, rear and front control arms Whiteline, front brace Whiteline, adjustable end links Whiteline, suspension AST 5300 serier 3 way. About suspension and drivetrain I am not scarry. I'm just worried about the engine. Original parts (pistons, connecting rods, bearings, screws,...) are strong enough for 400hp with bigger turbo and fuel injectors? Best regards, Gregor |

![]() Achieving 400whp on a 2.5i is ambitious and requires significant modifications. An STi turbo alone won't be enough to reach that power level. You'll need a comprehensive upgrade including a larger turbocharger, upgraded fuel system (injectors and pump), high-flow intake and exhaust, a front-mount intercooler, and possibly an upgraded engine internals to handle the increased power. A custom ECU tune is essential to optimize these modifications. It's also wise to consider transmission and drivetrain upgrades to handle the extra power. Consulting with a reputable performance shop for a tailored plan and professional installation would be the best approach.

![]() I bought my subaru last year from this dude who lost the receipts to the engine build but he claims that the car has built iag block from 2019. The car currently makes 350 wheel on a conservative tune and has all the supporting mods to make more. I'm trying to push for 400 whp or something close to that but the only thing holding me back is that I do not know which exact block is in my car but I do know it is built. Should the 400 whp be safe to go for?
