![]() Fresh rebuild at SunWest Subaru after timing belt broke. Engine installed all hooked up just cranks. Sounds like trying to start but won't. Did start with brake clean but not by it's self and was not running right. Real ruff and slow to rev up. Fuel pressure good, coil packs checked out, new plugs, injector test right, timing belt checked 3 times, new crank sensor, new cam sensors. MAC tool guy said to check the crank sensor trigger. Anyone know anything about that? I have tried to look the part up but can't find much. One site called it a "reluctor wheel". I have looked at several parts sites and can't find this part. Hope someone has an idea. prior to pushing the enter button on this, i remember the timing belt was wadded up around the crank gear.

![]() What he is referring to (at least earlier Subaru engines) is on the back flange of the crank "gear" for the timing belt.
There are a couple designs and alignments vs. the woodruff key. Likely not your issue, but the tab could have have been damaged or broken. It's part of the rear flange on the gear, sorta also guides the timing belt when the engine is running. |
