![]() I have a 2004 WRX 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder engine in my Factory Five Racing 818c kit car. Now, I need to replace my cam seals since one of them is leaking. I do not want to screw anything up and risk ruining my engine or pistons, or valves.
I have scoured this forum and have found multiple ways of removing the timing belt without damaging valves, or damaging anything else. Some folks say, just take the damn belt off and worry about lining everything up later using the factory markings on the crank pulley and cam pullies. Some folks say you HAVE TO tie everything up so that nothing moves using vise-grips and spare timing belts to lock cam pullies in place. Why have I seen so much variation, and why do some people seem to believe it is essential to lock 'em up, while others let 'em go and worry about lining stuff up aftwards? can someone help me decide what to do and what the risks are? thank you! ![]() Last edited by kerdizo; 05-10-2020 at 07:45 PM. |

![]() Hello everyone, I have been looking through the forums but haven’t been able to find someone with the same issue as mine. I’m currently getting a small oil leak from my passenger side bank 1 exhaust VVT solenoid (10917AA060) and it’s burning on my exhaust causing a horrible smell. I have the part I need but had a question about installation. I know the exhaust manifold has to be moved in order to replace the VVT, but since this is my first time dropping the manifold I’m not sure if the O2 sensor needs to come out before removing the manifold or if I can just unbolt the manifold and lower it slightly without completely removing it to access the VVT. Any help here would be appreciated, thanks!

![]() Hi,
I am new and trying to understand navigation of the site/forums, etc. I'm looking to get some info on repairing/replacing the engine of a 2005 Saab 9-2x, which is just a Subaru WRX, four-door wagon, with a 2.5L Linear. Everything under the hood is Subaru. Although, I'm sure you are familiar. It recently has been diagnosed as having a blown head gasket, after initially thinking it was the water pump(water pump and timing belt replaced). It still cranks and runs, etc. The crazy part of it all is how ironically good the engine is-to it's own detriment. Now, in hindsight I realize the issue came to a head after running for over a year, with no overt symptoms/signs of not having any fluid in the system; until eventually and finally beginning to stall the engine, once hot enough, in order to save itself. However, it was too late. Any information on most affordable parts, best sources, options, ideas or best way to seek buyers for a good fixer upper, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Last edited by iamabillionaire; 03-27-2023 at 10:28 PM. |

Pasted directly from the url above: 72 Hours (3 days) @ $34.95 - 30 Days @ $299.95 - 365 Days (1 year) @ $2499.95 While Haynes and Chilton manuals are sort of OK they are often inaccurate or incomplete based on my experience. Factory manuals are really the stone tablets of automotive repair. But not worth what Subaru is asking. Search eBay or just google search factory repair manuals. You’ll find links where you can down load pdf factory manuals for free. Last edited by Wyoming Bound; 03-04-2024 at 03:50 PM. |

![]() Yikes. The price on these has gone up a lot. My old memory says it used to be like $20/year or you could buy the whole printed set for like $200.
