Have you considered adding this stuff to WikiNASIOC? Wiki provides a method for passing on this kind of knowledge without the permission restriction that exists now.

In this case, Unabomber's original information could have been corrected and the most up to date information could be in place.

Dont get me wrong, his FAQs are a huge help. They just need some tweaking to stay current. A lot has changed and much of the info in them is off a bit and in some cases, no longer true at all.

And like I said, I think they are a bit too techy and dont get right to the heart of the issue of directly addressing the common misconceptions on things like intakes and BOVs.

Yes and no. I have seen stock valves leak at 17PSI on a TD04
But in general, they can be trusted to at least 20PSI. Most will hold up to around 22PSI or so. If you are running 22PSI or higher, you should seriously consider upgrading. If you dont want noise, go to something like the APS recirc, or even better, the HKS Race valve. However that HKS is about 500 bucks. But its ROCK solid.

If you are running a big setup, you likely wouldnt hear a VTA valve anyway. I had a 20G with an EWG on my FXT for a while, and you couldnt even hear the bov when I shifted.

this is EXACTLY what NASIOC needed. i dont know why you waited so long.

"they suck"/"they're fine"/"they run make you run SUPER rich"/"the rich is not bad"

on and on and on. but my Turbo-xs type-h is on now. i am only running one washer..since i couldnt find anywhere that'd explain how-to and ehem..davenow didnt respond to my pm about how to set it up..lol.

i had zero to begin with. learned about washers. bought some. put in three. didnt i hear the chufffchchch sound and got concerned about the all might compressor surge..so i took out two..no more chuffin'..i still dont know 100% if it's proper.

maybe you could post a vid of a properly venting BOV??? please..please..

or i can just post a vid of mine up and you tell me if it's fine.

I run 25 lbs of boost, and have a quiet BPV. Not that I could hear it anyways, for the same reason that Dave stated in his last post. An obnoxious, loud BoV really does serve no purpose aside from getting attention, this is irrefutable.

Exactly. I dont mean this FAQ to come off as me acting like Una doesnt know his stuff.

But people REALLY need to get over their mindset that just because he wrote a bunch of FAQs, that somehow this means that he knows everything. The fact that he took the time to make them, doesnt mean that ANYTHING in them is true or that he has any idea what he is talking about.
IThe reality is that other than some outdated info, they ARE true, and he DOES know his stuff. But the existance of the FAQs doesnt prove this. Its like Newbie or Guru status. It doesnt mean you actually know or dont know anything.

I could have a homeless guy that has never owned a car write a bunch of FAQs. Does that mean he knows what he is doing?

Ron knows his stuff, but so do MANY others, some know more, some know less. But he is far from the only game in town when it comes to knowledge. And like I said, I feel his FAQs end up going right over the head of many people. They are a LOT of info, and with us all being a bunch of ADD'd out nuts, it only makes sense to make a cliff notes sized FAQ that hits the key points hard and fast.

a.) Ron loves this place and spent a lot of HIS time helping the rest of us have a "one-stop shop" for common info. He has contributed a lot.
b.) Ron would not have purposely put out any bad info. He worked with what he had at the time and some things have been changed and/or thought of differently since.
c.) Dave took the time to put some new things in the mix and did it well.
