another boring sprint, and Verstappen got a plus 1 on the starting grid because of impeding Russell on his warm up lap, another bull**** decision

prediction: race will be as boring as the sprint

The race was somewhat entertaining, given how boring the track could be.

At least Kick/Sauber didn't end the season without points. Think the Williams mechanics just want the season to end already. IMO, MCL will take the WCC unless they really have a s**t outing in the final race.

Its good that Sauber didn't get shut out thid season
What 6 wrecks in the last 3 races for Williams ? (16 crashout this year)
Lewis out of the points wanted to retire the car.
Lewis at Ferrari is going to be entertaining.
How did Gasley's Alpine all of sudden got good?
That was Ocons last race for Alpine.

What a joke. Albon's mirror falls off on the main straight and left there until Bottas hit it.
Kewis and Sianz got puntures and then the saftey car comers out.
Somebody needs to wake TFU.

I was glad to see Kick/Sauber get a point, tho bummed that Bottas' tire strategy didn't seem to let him get double points. Also wtf was up with RBs tire strategy with the safety cars as well?

Hulk gets a 3 place penalty. Not surprising. Seems like everytime Hass does someting good they get crapped on. Love to see what happens when Cadillac-Andretti gets on the grid.

I imagine this weekend Bottas is in total zero FAQs to give mode in terms of trying to get the most out of the car.

That was a fun last race. Lap 1 was great. Leclerc charged through the field with a vengeance. Hamilton had a pretty good run too, fun seeing him pass Russel on the last lap, great way to go out.

I think Checo got the short end of the stick this year. That RB20 was a crappy ass car with a super narrow performance window, and terrible mid-season updates that sent the car in the wrong direction. Max complained and suffered as well. Max is a once-in-a-generation talent. I think most of the drivers on the grid would have had issues, only a few, like Max, Charles, and Hamilton would have been more successful than Checo was.

Everyone forgets that Checo finished 4th, 3rd, and 2nd in the world championship in the years leading up to this year. He is a talented driver when the car is set up to his liking, which it was not this year. We watched Hamilton finish 7th in the world championship, second to his teammate Russel, but he's still getting a highly revered seat at Ferrari, meanwhile everyone rips on Checo.

IMO, the media did Checo dirty this year. terrible for him. Their constant nagging about him retiring, getting fired, etc. just got everyone hyped up against him. Hoping he comes back with Caddy in 2026.

Meanwhile, LFG Lawson! Also, I think Hadjar will quickly outpace Yuki.

Yuki outperformed both Lawson and Ricardo across the season. But Horner and/or Marco make the rules.

IMO they should have given him a year in the seat to see.

Still feel bad about Sainz getting the boot, but at least Ferrari had some class seeing him off.

no need to leave with scorched earth....there is the possibility that Hamilton gets so frustrated in his first Ferrari year that he will leave. Opens the door for Sainz second coming.

Hamilton was pampered to the max at Mercedes, this will not happen with Ferrari, and Hamilton will learn it the hard way.

Netflix to buy F1 TV rights for US?

https://www.pitpass.com/79497/Netfli...-rights-for-US

It is claimed that Netflix is preparing to bid for the rights to broadcast F1 in the US as ESPN's current deal comes to an end.

Long gone are the days when ESPN could buy the rights for a song. It's most recent deal with F1, and which runs out at season end, is understood to be around $85m (£68m) a year.

Previously, those broadcasters that were even interested in broadcasting the sport into American homes agreed deals with Formula One Management for a fraction of that.

Now, however, on the back of the current boom, not to mention Liberty Media's hunger for cash, ESPN is likely to face stiff competition for the broadcast rights from 2026.

Indeed, The Times claims that Netflix is looking to make a bid, the streaming giant having seemingly signed up ESPN's vice president of production, Kate Jackson, who was previously in charge of the broadcaster's F1 coverage.

While Apple is also said to be looking at making a bid, there is no mention (yet) of Amazon, which previously lost out to ESPN during the last round of negotiations in 2021.

Of course, Netflix has played a part in the sport's boom in the US, having broadcast Drive to Survive, the behind the scenes documentary series which brought the sport to a whole new audience during the dark days of lockdown.

Like its great rival Amazon, Netflix has ventured into live sport's coverage, both with mixed results, and is seeking to expand further. However, with the deal only for the rights to broadcast in the US this is thought to be why Apple has thus far remained silent.

"We believe that the live events business is where we really want to be and sports is a very important part of that but it is a part of that expansion," said Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos earlier this year.

However, he admitted: "It's really important that those economics do work. And the big league sports, full league, full season economics, are very hard to make work."

While F1 will only be interested in the money being offered, fans in the US will want to know what sort of coverage they will be getting. Currently ESPN uses Sky's feed, which has led to complaints - in the US and various other countries that take the feed - over its bias towards British drivers, not to mention the lack of decent, independent build-up and post-race analysis.

Over the past few seasons I have watched through F1TV as I don't have have any subscription to ESPN, and the live content is more reliable. However, I prefer the "international" aka Sky Sports broadcasts over the the F1TV presenters. Most likely that's just from the continuity of the past.

Sure this is the very beginning, but I see qualifying as Yuki giving a finger to Horner and Lawson looking very unimpressive. Glad Helmut was there to help with the proper decisions.

Went quiet for a while and comes back with a "RPM F1 Awards 2024" clip only for it to be more of a STR rant than anything. Not that he's wrong or about that...
