Can we count the Forester Hybrid and Wilderness as 2 different SUV's?

You were right, it is Forester Wilderness and Hybrid. Interesting that Hybrid is 2025 and Wilderness is 2026 model. Wilderness actually looks better than the standard Forester.

I'm so sick of these overly complicated plastic grilles. Why aren't they just black metal chicken wire? Grilles used to look so good, now they are grotesque.

Wilderness comes much later in the year.

I won't argue the current look; but, was never a fan of the chicken wire/mesh grills. THAT looked boring and lazy to me.

So, Outback will no longer be sold in Japan?? Or is it just the name Legacy Outback?

The new upcoming Outback will probably be too big for Japan. They already have the smaller WRX based wagon Levorg and its lifted version called Layback.

They did call it the Lancaster at one point. Maybe bring back that name?

It's only getting taller. But, it will be interesting to see if they care to have it.

Do you think that Subaru would sell the Layback here once Outback becomes more like an SUV?

No one (besides us) wants a wagon. So, no.

Yeah it's crazy that wagons became uncool to most US buyers because they couldn't reconcile with the negative aspects of their childhoods from the 70's and 80's. Now it's cool to want a relatively less practical CUV/SUV.*

*I will admit that loading a newborn into a taller vehicle and having a more commanding view of the road are bonuses, along with the ability to haphazardly run over curbs.

We went from a VW TDI Sportwagen to a RAV4 and like you, I've noted those benefits as well. While the RAV4 doesn't handle quite as well, it's been a great substitute with better reliability.

But you can bet your a$$ I'd buy a Levorg day one if they brought it to the US.

I adored my Audi Allroad. I only wish I could have afford the A6 version instead of the poverty spec A4 version I had.

It's going to be interesting to me how this site takes the new look. The first tease I saw a year and a half ago had me worried. But, when I saw it last summer, I decided to buy one within 20 seconds of seeing it. Buuutttt, my likes and this site's rarely coincide.

I'm just as anxious. I'm REALLY hoping the hybrid will be available right away. If it isn't, I might just have to get one anyway. I need a car. My 2006 Forester is great. But ooollllldddddd. And squeaky. And rattley. And loud. And small. Over 200K on the original clutch(still feels fine). I am ready!!!!!

I'll have to see MPG. I'd think the turbo would be just as good as what I have; but, unless its a WRX or better, I think turbo isn't something I need or care for anymore. I've been perfectly fine trudging around in my 2006 MT Forester. The NA will likely be fine. And cheaper cause I REALLY want ventilated seats and will likely remain on the Touring model. Soooooo, save a bit of money on two fronts there. CAUSE, I want to be ready to get whatever they have plans for with an "STI". Or whatever.
