I'm sorry, MY BAJA is not ugly, at least it was based on a production vehicle, (Legacy/Outback), and I haven't heard all that many bad comments on that design!
And if BAJA's were THAT bad, how come every time you go back to your dealer, they want you to trade it in? Could it be a quick re-sale for them, hummm?
Keep it under 90, folks!

Baja's were dropped because Subaru did'nt sell enough of them(ie$$$). The ones that were sold found a niche that other models could'nt fill.....and Baja owners are pretty loyal. Dealers want our trade-ins because Baja's don't stay on their lots for long....which means quick cash for them.

Oh! The resale values are pretty impressive.
I saw my exact car on here a week ago selling for $19,999, exactly what I paid over 4 years ago. I only have 24k on the clock.

Baja's are a niche car. Like the Brat for father it fount a niche and those that have them love. Those that want one will pay to get them which is why the dealers want us to trade ours in. They know they can turn them around quickly.

Wanted a car that could go off road and handle 4 people plus large dogs.

For us it is a fantastic car.

Plus turbo engine fun.

While not ugly to me, the looks are one that people like or hate with not much in the middle. Which is why it went away. Most buys never actually tried one or seriously tested them vs the small 4 door pickups. The only area here where it does not shine is when you want to haul motorcycles or heavier loads. But for the normal stuff and then retain the handling and ride of the Legacy it was a no brainer

Consider the source also ditched the STIs you have to discount this article.

Wow, yeah I have to agree, that's a bit of a lame article really. I think their comments on the WRX are a little out of context and somewhat skewed if you ask me.

If my Baja was truly ugly, I would not get any second looks

Your Right! I also get asked "What is it?" and "Where can I get one?"
And comments like "Oh, that would be perfect for me!"

Oh yeah. I get soooo many comments on my Baja. It's still funny to have strangers walk up to me and ask me about it. I've actually had someone wait by there car waiting for me to show up to mine when I was out shopping. HAHA! He said that he wished he bought a Baja instead of the truck that he ended up getting then asked me quite a few questions. I also had two ladies come up to me and talk to me on the ferry while I was sitting in my car. I could go on for a while with the amount of people that I've talked to about it.

DITTO!!!

One time a guy even had CASH in his hand waving it in my face, offering to buy my Baja, right there on the spot, for more than I paid for (got mine used, btw) about a year ago.

I will say, once I hear wind that Subaru is going to make another vehicle similar to the Baja, I'm going cash mine in.

Wow! I haven't had that happen...yet. lol I hope Subaru does make another vehicle similar to the Baja. I wouldn't want to know that these won't be around anymore. For as long as they're around, it's the only vehicle I'm going to buy!

That's odd.. the dealer I had to buy ours from had it sitting for nearly 6 months.

'Course, the number of people who even know how to drive a 5-speed anymore are dwindling..

The dealership that had my Baja didn't have it too long! They had just put it out in front up on the stands when my parents saw it and called me. They knew I've been looking out for one. I drove right over, traded in my already paid off '97 Subaru Legacy, and bought the Baja! Loved it ever since.

I was weaving in and out of traffic on my way to work and pulled into our work parking lot when some guy in a Ford Explorer followed me in.
I thought that I was going to be in a fight when I saw him get out of his truck and come rushing over to me but he wanted to buy my Baja. I told him no matter what he offered it was not going to be enough because I was going to have to try and find another one to buy so he was better off looking on EBay or something like that for one. Made my day anyway.

As for that article on Yahoo, they have to slam some type of vehicle. How else are they going to get anyone to read their lame reviews?

I found my Baja the day the dealership put it online, before they had even done their inspection and oil change and detail and stuff. I drove 3 hours to go see it and got a test drive while it was still dirty. and i bought it the same day. Had to wait a week for them to get it ready for me. but I had my Baja!!!
