Questions-for those of you with guages mounted on your A-pilar
I was thinking of putting my 3 guages (Autometer carbon electrical-boost, EGT, and oil preasure) on the A-pilar. But what I want to know is that for those who mounted them on the A-pilar, if after having them there for a while, do you wish that you would have mounted them on the clock pod instead. Due to visabilaty on the A-pilar, compaired to the visability on the clock pod. I am having a hard time deciding where to mount, and wanted people's opinions.
Thanks Ryan

Nice or rice, it is all ones perspective.
Personally, I'd try to keep the gauges to a minimum and only get what is needed for proper tuning and monitoring of the motor. I'd look for placing the gauges inconspicuously around the interior of the vehicle. I see too many cars that have enough gauges to launch the space shuttle but have little else beyond that. Below is a nice pod. |

I wouldn't do more than 2 on the a-pillar, I do right now only temporarily because the gauges I want aren't out yet. My eventual plan is Boost/Oil/EGT in the clock pod with my wideband by itself on the a-pillar since it won't match the other gauges.
Right now I'm running Boost/Wideband on the a pillar and its working out fine, visibility is good its just a bit edgy for me in terms of 'class'. |

It just depends on your opinion. I have my boost, EGT, and oil pressure gauges on my A-pillar and have had no trouble with it. I mainly went with the A-pillar because I didn't want to lose my clock in the center and also I knew I was only going to have those 3 gauges, so I didn't need to worry about getting more gauges or anything.

I have boost egt and oil press up on the a pillar, doesn't bother me at all, don't even notice them really. I'm also planning on putting in a led numbered display to replace where the clock goes and get an audio shop to fab up a dual pod up where the clock is but leaving the recessed space to have the air/fuel ratio in the space. I'm planning on putting in fuel press and an analog clock as the other two gauges

OK, let me ask this. If I choose to mount the guages in place of the clock. What clock pod really points the guages at the driver. The only thing is with a clock pod, I would not want anything with a huge hood hanging over the guages. A little lip is no problem.
Suggestions please Ryan |

I had a 3-gauge pod on my A-pillar for a while. I thought it was a bit ricey, but I still liked it alot. But after a few months, I got an autometer gauge bezel (the one that goes around the gauge cluster) with just two gauges, and like it MUCH better.

I had my boost guage on my A-pillar for a while.
I liked it becuase it was easy to read there, but on the flip side, I didn't like it because it was in my field of vision...it was a blindspot. I ended up getting the dual guage Autometer bezel (like the one pictured above) that fits in place of the the stock bezel. For the most part, I like it a lot. It has a stock look, and is inconspicous (wish I could say the samething for my LED prosport guages CAN SOMEONE SAY BRIGHT). On the down side, the left gauge cup covers the Fuel Low light, and as a result I have come VERY close to running out of gas twice now. The other down side is that my eye has to travel farther to read the boost guage now. You wouldn't think such a small distance would make a difference, but it definately is not as easy to read it quickly as having it on the A-pillar. I currently only have 2 guages. Boost/Oil Pressure. I would like to get one more, probably EGT, AFR, or Oil Temp...haven't decided, that is besides the point though. I am going to need to find a place to put it. I never have liked the clock gauge pod...to loud for my taste. So, I am thinking about installing another pillar mount, but putting it very far down the pillar, in the corner, close to where the pillar meets the dashboard and windshield. If I do this I will probably move the boost guage there and then use the two cups in the bezel for my new guage. my .02 |

someone makes a pod that actually tucks into the corner between the windshield and a-pillar...actually I think Avo makes it. It just kinda cozies up in the left corner.

I loveeeeeeee my a-pillar setup...not in the way at all and very easy to read. i hated the clock pod setup i had after a while. the autometer cluster bezel was good but i didnt like the fitment. I'll probably get two more gauges and go with the perrin pod or something.

SRT-4s use the A-pillar. I think the clock pod is better for aesthetics and appearance personally. It just works
