The sender in the thread I linked is for the post 74 VAG products. Prior to that they used a style just like yours. I figured it would be a good resource if ya needed it |

I thought I would step in and say nice build. I, like RSI am doing something a little different using similar parts (including some of his older parts!). I am doing a fully built 901 trans into an 05 usd sti into the back of a full caged bug chassis with a non-bug body. Doing so using a Kennedy kit, sti pedals and dash cluster, full harness and other misc sti parts. I am using fully converted 911/944 suspension setup and brakes. You've done a great job with your build. Thanks for sharing it with us. How's your trans holding up? Its a 2010 WRX 5 speed TY758 which only had 28k miles on it and it looks it too 912 goes into phase 2 5-speed from 2010 WRX with only 28k miles and clean as a whistle i'll slowly modify it for reverse r/p and LSD then after the summer events, yank my 901 5 speed, adapter plate, conversion flywheel and stage 2 pressure plate and clutch and put it all up for sale. 4 speed will go up for sale asap. i'll document the process here as well |

playing with some ducting from the opening in front. i think it was doing a fair bit or recirculating. never messed with dzus fasteners but thought it would be perfect for this. i'll do the same to direct the outflow as well then some testing, any excuse for testing is a good one.

good call, will do. thanks. its still in proto phase, i think i may do a hard line in and around that area to reduce the profile of the hose under that part of the car.

Question for all you suby experts. I'm toying with different methods of connecting the tranny to the outer drive flange. so far all will include a trip to the machine shop for millling and/or welding.
1) bolt conversion Porsche 930 flanges (mates subaru put shaft to 930 cv). then run 930 cv, 930 axle, 930 outer cv. then had a shop cut the 912 outer flange off the drive flange and weld on 930 flange to it. I am confident I could go this route but some extra expensive i'd rather avoid if i dont have to. 2) use subary CV, subaru axle and have the end splined for the 912 CV. - not sure if the 912 cv is up to the abuse it will see 3) use subary cv, subaru axle and have splined for 930 cv and do the drive flange as in #1 above - but this had 2 items being milled/welded 4) see if the guys who make the 930 adapter flanges make one for the 912 but although the cheapest (if he'll do it) be the weakest. ideas please? |

Also, on that vent on the fuel cell please vent it to outside the underhood anywhere. I'm worried about fumes and those relays under there.
On the tranny and axles - are you using the Subaru tranny? If so I think I may just have JUST the solution for you based upon the exo-car we have here made by Speed inc. |

Hate to keep directing you to "the other site" But there are a few people on thesamba that have done the reverse R&P on buses and beetles, might be worth a read. Check the Bay window forum, that is where most of the swaps are done. |

-I'll check it out thanks. Turninconcepts, -yes, vent under car out from trunk area. -I am running a 901 transaxle at the moment but will be using the above TY758 5 speed from a 2010 WRX. -I've seen a few solutions but not for the 912 yet. The bug conversion and 914 conversions have used conversion flanges (bug) or conversion axles (914 - suby inner cv and stock 914 outer cv). the issue with the 912 conversion is i think the 68 cv's are a different bolt pattern at the flange and may have a different spline count than the 914's. found some 930 coversion stub axles from the dune buggy guys that may be a good base to send to the machine shop and see if they can make it work for the 912. looks very similar. it would be too easy for it to just bolt right up so i wont even wish for it.

And really it's the summer car to offset my S4 DD / Winter Car... How are you finding your speed sensor working out for you? I am trying to figure out that part of my build at the moment. In addition to adapting the STI power steering rack. hopefully I'll have that part done Monday. I just have to find someone to make custom power steering lines... anyone have any leads on something like that? Here is what she is powered by and a sneak of what she looks like: Also - can you tell me what you are getting up to with your Hydro-throwout bearing setup and how you liked it? If you starting to part out your 901 related parts, would you be interested in selling that hydro-throwout setup? Also, would you sell the front mount for the 901? Let me know. projects look fun. is it front engine? are you doing a reverse ring in pinion for the 901? hard to tell from the photo. or is it mid or rear engine. regarding my current tranny set up with the 901, the speed sensor is working flawlessly. i will be selling all my adapter plates/adapter flywheel/pp/clutch. hadnt really thought about the front mount yet, its got a Wevo semi solid bushing conversion. i am using the stock cable clutch release btw, no hydrolic. >>>>>>>i know Todd at subarugears, talking to Todd actually at the moment about a possible group buy for r/p, 930 conversion flanges and a few other bits. if you or anyone one else is interested, let me know.<<<<<<< |

I am in the same configuration you are - rear engine, stock location for the 901. Front mounted radiator and fuel cell. I have a lower profile hood line than yours and am having to have a custom fuel cell fabbed up at the moment. Have you had any cooling related issues with your radiator setup?
I was looking at another 901 build that had done a hydro throw-out using a Saab bearing and custom slave - I thought that was you but it's not. Disregard. Edit: Build thread for said bearing setup thanks and keep updating the build, it's motivation for me to get my ***** together on my own project! drive safe.
