Default any way to quiet down my exhaust?

i am catless with my stock exhaust on my car. i have a borla exhaust but it is too loud for my neighborhood. can a silencer be made for my exhaust even though it was not made to have one??? any other method? some one i knew a while back drilled a whole in his dp (with a stock exhaust) and it made sound almost as if it had an aftermarket exhaust. would that hinder performance significantly?

flame on if you want i dont care, if any of you guys know anything that would help me out let me know please... thanks

idk how well it works, but you can do a search on the auger muffler and something should come up.

You could have a local muffler shop add a resonator.

The auger is the cheapest and easiest way to silence it. It is also reversable if you don't like it. I had one and it works.

either sell your exhaust and buy the greddy evo 2 or prodive etc...

or make a trade with someone local? for every person wanting a quiet exhaust there's another guy looking for a loud one.

the auger does work and ive used resonated test pipes and they worked fairly well...but if u get the auger u better get ready to lose a few horses...slows down ur exhaust flow, obviously ;]

well i tried putting the rag on the exhaust and that just made my engine smoke yeah right. lol well the auger dousnt sound that bad even though you loose a few hp, cuz as it is i have my stock exhaust on and im loosing even more power having my stocker on. it is a 2.5 inch catback. would the back pressure be damaging?

anybody know about the drilling a whole in your pd??? just curious.

NOPE, u screwed the pooch on that one buddy. See u had to have the exhaust sounding all loud so u can be cool and draw attention to urself. Gets old doesn't it? My advice, sell ur loud exhaust and buy a greddy sp2 and u will be styling. nice low rumble and really winds up when in woot. I feel u my friend when ur in second pulling 2000 rpms and ur car sounds like a nascar, although it sounds cool fo like one minute until u realize **** my car is super loud and not that fast. Good luck, typical noob exhaust upgrade, make it loud as possible.

I have the Greddy Evo 2 with Invidia downpipe, Perrin Up, and p n p'd stock headers and I thought that is was still too loud for me, and the people that were riding in my car. I then since added another resonator and I wasn't able to drive the car right before and right after, I had to pick the car up a few days later so I wasn't able to get an instant idea of the difference it made. People ride in my car and say that it is quieter, but that's just because I tell them what I did. It was relatively cheap, 30 dollars for the resonator, and had a buddy weld it in. All n All, I personally think it's still too loud, and don't know what else to do.

APEXi has what they call an "active tail silencer" that they sell for their pipes. they come in two sizes, I believe 90mm & 115mm & they slip into the tailpipe. I think it's basically a spring loaded resonator. At idle it closes to reduce noise & at WOT it is fully open for unrestricted airflow. Don't know what size your tailpipe is but you might want to check into it. I think it's www.APEXi-usa.com

trades are sometimes too hard to set up...

if you still have your stock exhuast you could just try and sell the aftermarket one on here..thats usually not too difficult. stick with stock for a while then if you feel like it go with a Prodrive...
