Wow I really must be special to get so much attention. You, by your own admission, are net-investigating me to try to come up with mud to sling on a forum. Thats not normal behavior.
Your motives again are??

Speaking of conspiracy theories- Remember when Nader had GM reps spying on him and following him around?? Lol
My youtube channel is used to watch ALL KINDS OF THINGS. There are two videos on history- not even my page-about conspiracies. But they are related to a part time research project I work on in my spare time.
You have no spare time. It is YOU who is the forum whore and a nasty persistent one at that.

No net stalking, I simply clicked on the link someone else posted in NASIOC recently and watched the video. I feel sorry for you that your car turned out to use oil, my approach would be very different from yours if mine was affected, but I get that you have a right to be pissed about it.

I think that happened when I was 1 or 2 years old, so I don't actually have any recollection of it. I did, however, during college, work for two summers at what turned out to be the largest distributer, manufacturer, and everything else Corvair, and had the pleasure of taking apart about 60 corvair engines for parts, along with about 100 doors, etc.

I don't have the time to maintain a youtube channel. I just noticed the conspiracy videos you had there, so it is funny that you don't like the word "conspiracy", no one has ever linked me to any "conspiracy" theories, that I know of.

I dont have ANY "conspiracy" videos on my channel.
And again-this thread is about fb/fa oil consumption and not about what I view on youtube.
I have no idea of your activities outside nasioc, and dont care to know what you do when you aren't posting here. I certainly don't go investigating you. All I know is you simply will not allow conversation about a topic you don't like.

If your reffering to my subscriptions- one is a photojournalist, the other is GhostlyAtheist, which makes for fun youtubing for me. But that has nothing to do with these oil burning fb's in 2012+ Imprezas.

I can't be bothered reading thru 137 pages of airbag comments in this thread. Here's the deal yo...

Wife's 2012 Impreza Sport has been having consumption problems from day one. Car has been using 1 quart every 1470 miles on average as measured by the dealer. SOA says we need to be below 1200 to remedy the situation.

I know this isn't right. I'm no child. I've built small bock Chevys from the ground up. I've purchased 5 new vehicles, 1 Chevrolet, 1 Toyota and 3 Scoobs, over the years and followed the dealer recommended break in procedure with no problems. We've, over the years owned 7 Subarus, including 4 with turbos and beat them up daily, and I've NEVER lost this much oil between changes. My 09 WRX didn't lose this much oil when the oil gauge adapter was lose, and undercoated the bottom of the car. (She'll never rust now )

I need to know if anyone in this thread has had an excessive oil consumption problem and actually gotten it fixed. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone with excessive consumption switched from the recommended 0-20W synthetic to a Standard (non-synthetic) oil and broken the motor in better to find that the prob went away?

I did.
Was burning 1 litre every 900 km. if you want to meet that standard just drive it hard and it should reach the threshold to get something done. They replaced my short block and 5000 km later the light came on again. Was down .6 of a litre. After driving another 4000 km after that it seems to have slowed down. I have been monitoring it almost daily and has only gone down slightly.
Good luck

79, for the love of all that is holy, please stop posting every few minutes in a row!

Anyways, hopefully you are able to gather a certain number of "oil burners" and go to SOA with your results. I'm sure if you ask them if there is a consumption issue they will tell you they haven't heard of any. Go with the with hard data of individuals and perhaps they won't be able to refute your issue.

On a side note, your poll numbers are not indicative of the actual percentages of all Imprezas that are consuming oil. The variables surrounding the poll as well as the limited sample set cannot accurately depict the actual percentages. So I think what folks are saying is you shouldn't pass the 14-17% of Imprezas are consuming oil as the fact for ALL Imprezas.

My point exactly - well stated ST Eye. While I will admit that there is a problem, I am hesitant to believe that the percentages are accurate. Now having said that, if it were my car, it would be long gone...

Yea basically. I went back to Subaru 7 times in between an oil change for them to add .8 to 1 litre of oil every time so it was a constantly new stream of oil.

Sorry to hear about your oil consumption problems. It does suck, but on more positive note, you aren't that far from the threshold, perhaps you'll reach it. Regarding the fix for the consumption problems, other Imprezas as well as 2011 Foresters that had consumption issues the dealer will replace the shortblock which in turn should fix the issue. I know that Greg got his shortblock replaced and still has issues, this is not the norm. Good luck with things, it is disheartening when you are a loyal Subaru owner and have these problems!

Greg, a friend of mine had engine problems twice with the motor in his 2008 STI. They had to rebuild it with a shortblock the first time and a longblock the second time. After the second time he asked SOA to buy it back, which they did. If Canada doesn't have good lemon laws, I would approach Subaru and ask them to buy the car back, or perhaps give you a new car? It's worth a shot for the troubles you're having.

You guys loved that poll when it was new with only 2 oil burners.

That poll is visited & voted on by many people coming to this forum to search for oil consumption issues or being directed from here. Aside from those of us not burning oil & tuning into this thread for sheer train wreck value.... not many are voting in that poll. So taking a percentage from that poll alone is far from indicative of the percentage of Impreza owners with oil consumption problems. Keep that in mind & calm the f down!

Train. Wreck.

By which you mean 14 votes, out of ~85,000 cars on the road.

So you've identified 14 out of your estimated 12,000 (your minimum estimate).

Good job, keep working on finding more, you are almost hitting .02% of all Impreza owners with your poll...

If it's brown, tubular, and laying on the lawn next to a dog, would it be right to call it a Tootsie Roll or a Baby Ruth? Facts are facts and scat is scat. If the fact is scat, then that fact must be shared, IMHO.
