10/24/04 TRACK DAY near Green Bay (Shawano) L@@K!
The Central Wisconsin Sports Car Club has confirmed there will be a track day at a*new* track in Shawano, Wisconsin, October 24th.(It's 30 miles west of Green Bay)
The details of the track are found here. http://www.usainternationalraceway.com/ Based on the hours I've spent driving my Focus on the track, it's a thrill with roller-coaster elevation changes and a couple of scary sections that require a careful hand to keep composure. The videos found at www.fvscc.com will show you just what I mean. From what I know now it will $50 for a full day of action. Parade lap, then warm up runs, timed runs, and then freelance racing if the insurance provider doesn't mind. Insurance is expensive and $50 is damn reasonable for what you will experience. Please spread the word to other forums and all your interested friends. This needs to be succesful in order to ever make another event like this possible ever again. -Lee

I talked to Tom about it. Sorry to say I'll be out of town and unavailable to make it. Have an extra bit of fun for me too Lee.

Sounds like fun. I just did a similar day at the Iowa Internation Raceway in Marshalltown, IA. Lot smaller, but still had a blast.

Due to it being a new course, it's quite smooth, not BUMPy at all.

Wow! Thats a great deal. If it wasn't so late in the year I'd be really tempted to drive over there for such a nice looking track.

I'm probably coming up... it's only 245 miles each way. I've gotta get used these longer trips again before January...

lapping day
Yea, it's alot of fun there. Elevation changes quite frequently, blind corners, sweepers, deffenitaly worth the wntry fee. Plus you can chat it up with cool guys like stiguy555 and me.
Here are pictures I took at the "first" event.Click Here Some good ones for those that won't follow link. |

One more question, I see the Packers are at home against the Cowboys next Sunday. How badly is that going to foobar traffic up to and through Green Bay? Gametime is 3, so the trip up should be fine, but what about the return?

lapping day
There wasn't a first event really, it was more of a test run of the venue to see how well a lapping day/autocross would do there. It was put on by members of FVSCC. Still there's no reason you shouldn't have been invited.
As for the traffic, I couldn't even guess how it would be after the game. |
