Default For the love of god and all that is holy please help me

So my power windows in my 02 wrx sedan stopped working last week. no its not the lockout switch all 4 are dead. so i called the dealer, they said the windows are on a circut breaker, not a fuse. and that is is buried in the dash and that id never find it if i didnt already know where to look. well lovely them, they refused to tell me instead wanting me to drive an hour and a half and a ferry ride to them. so i went looking for it myself, and now that the lower dash is apart and there are wires everywhere. i cant find anything remotely resembling a breaker. this lack of windows thing is driving me nuts. anyone know where the breaker is hidden and what precisely does it look like? please help. thanks, seth

So you'd have to go to Burlington, eh? I haven't read a single post here about this problem, so I doubt you'll get a lot of help .

Here's another thought...do they not work from the driver's switch, or at the doors themselves?

If they work at the door, the plug on the driver's door is disconnected...

I don't see any circuit breakers in the wiring diagram. The wiper circuit gets power from F/B fuse #15, which is in the underdash fuse block, bottom row, third from the left. Is that fuse blown?

Doh! Sorry for the senior moment. Okay, according to the wiring diagram, the power window circuit DOES have a circuit breaker. Here it is. As you can see, it's attached to the bottom of the underdash fusebox.

I pulled the connector off it and verified my windows didn't work, then put it back and verified that they did. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to reset it. There are no buttons anywhere on it.

I suggest you pull it out and check it for continuity with an ohm meter. It should read 0 ohms between the two pins on the breaker. If it reads 'open' instead, you will need to replace it. If you temporarily jumper across the two pins in the connector that hooks to it, your windows should work.

Default thanks rocky

thanks for the tip on the white connector. ill try testing it out with the multimeter in the morning. though from what the dealer said it sounded like if its a breaker then it should be able to be reset, otherwise whats the point right? strange stuff. anyways, thanks again. seth

I was also surprised to find no reset button on it. This thing is where the wiring diagram says the breaker should be, and it kills my windows when I pull it, so I'm certain it's the breaker.

My wife's 2000 OB was delivered with a short somewhere in the power window harness. It would kill the battery overnight. When I put an ammeter on the battery, I saw that the current would cycle at about 30 second intervals. Why am I mentioning this?, Well, I could hear a faint clicking noise from under the dash when the current cycled. This was probably the breaker tripping and automatically resetting after cooling off. At least, that's my theory. So maybe it's supposed to reset automatically, but in your case, it's defective. I let the dealer find and fix the short, so I didn't look into it any further.

Default the white breaker

From some of my experience on circuit breakers the majority of automotive ones are what they call "self resetting" or auto resetting" breaker. Basically they are a new concept on fuses. They blow and reset when they cool off. So you will not find any reset points. It is common for them to short out internally. Test with a meter or test light and possibly bypass to check for any problems further down the line.
