Question So what is CT's opinions of WCCC (specifically now that Stern is gone)?

Curious.

I honestly haven't been listening to any radio station too much, but seems as those the ONE good station in all of CT is not headed in the right direction. A little too much "classic" rock and I can't take Sebastian for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Well I take it you are not a Stern fan, but atleast he isn't old enough to have been in the lab with Guglielmo Marconi when he invented the radio.
Sebastian's voice just kills me - it's not even what he is saying, but more how he is saying it.

Either way, the rest of the day, I have been having bad luck with WCCC playing good music - it's the same damn played out classic-rock songs that they have always played and way too much 80 and 90s music (ENOUGH with Nirvana already!). Maybe I just have been unlucky, but they never use to play this much older stuff.

I gave Sebastian a try after Stern went off, and it lasted about 10 minutes. I didn't like his old show, and I don't like him now.

I just listen to CD's now in the morning. Pretty tempted to buy a Sirius..

Do you wonder why Sebastian is on for a few months and disapears, only to pop up somewhere else? It's cause he sucks! WCCC canned him, he went to 93.7 before it was the all 70's crap, way before HOT 93.7 came aboard.
He is an idiot that says things to make women look stupid. He's got his wench that just follows along. I sent a few e-mails off to CCC letting them know I wont turn their station on before 10:30.

The rest of the day has been ok. 90's at noon rock.

There isnt anything else to listen to. PLR is old, everything else is that pop crap.

I want 104 the way it was old skool, no DJ's just some kick butt alternative stuff.

I know that he was on the air here in CT before, but never listened to him before, so had no idea what his backstory really was.

The person they SHOULD have brought back was Dee - while I don't think he was nearly as funnAy as Stern, Dee was atleast decent. And he was atleast closer in age to the typical WCCC demographic than grandpa Sebastian.

amen to that - but living in the Clear Channel era, that is simply not going to happen.
When 104 was alternative and WCCC was more heavy, that was the bestest time. Now since WCCC is the only game in town, no competion to keep them from sucking.

It really feels like terrestrial radio stations almost WANT people to get satellite radio.

If I had a mullet and was a biggot I'm sure I'd love it. But the BS he says has made me stop listening to that station all together.

106.9 Has sucked for past few years, but he was the final nail in the coffin. Eff that station, they don't play any decent rock that was made after 1989 and of any of the newer stuff they play is the same corporate mediocre rock BS all the Clear Channel stations play.

Sure they're independent, but they don't play anything cutting edge or decent. Essentailly they're banking on the fact they're independent and not doing anything to show it.

They show up at every Webster show and wave their dicks in everyones face before the show and NEVER ONCE play that artist on their station. I wish they'd just finally give up and admit they're a ishtty classic rock station, so they can stop wasting our time.

^^ I personally don't think they are quite as bad as you say, but I get your point.
I am sick of listening to CDs - the whole point of listening to the radio is to hear something new or different.

so if not WCCC, who do you listen to? PLR is nothing but Classic rock, so forget them. 105.9 is teh ghey rock. I actually put on the old Big D 103 for the occassional oldies, but can't leave it there all day.

Then do yourself a favor and pickup XM and give Fred, Lucy, and Ethel a listen (and throw in XMU while you're at it). Seriously, it reminds me alot of what 104.1 was back in 93/94 when they were "the new 104". Anyone else remember what they were even before that?

Magic 104 easy listening!

I agree though, I really liked Dee Snider Radio. That was right around the period where I found Stern was starting to ger overly bitchy/defensive with some of his guests so Dee was a refreshing alternative.

They're not that anymore? Damn, I should listen to that part of the dial every now and again.

The only station I listen to now is 100.9 out of Holyoke (a little too far north for some of you in CT).

RIP WCCC.. I know your not dead yet, but the end is coming. I got Sirius for Christmas. I haven't listened to reg radio at all for the past month. Sat radio is great. I can listen to ESPN radio with out losing the channel and trying to find a better signal. The Raw Dog stand up comic channel is freakin great. Rush hour drives do not suck anymore. There is so much content on Sat radio anyone can find something on there. If you get bored, then you find another channel.

One thing that does suck I can't listen to Howard online at work (just all the music stations).

I go between NPR in the morning / afternoon, I'll listen to WHUS (UConn) for some metal / indie / hip-hop shows and later in the night I can get WAAF in and rock out to Harder Faster. Otherwise I just make mp3 mixes for my car and work.

Yea NPR is great, but not if I wanna wake up in the morning.

You still can get WAAF in Vernon?
I used to be able to pick them up here in West Hartford, but their signal hasn't been coming in for a while now.

Yup, factory radio or aftermarket.

If you get one of those signal boosters you'll get Boston stations as demonstrated by my buddies 04 Radio that picks up Red Sox coverage all season all the way in Berlin!

Get the hell out.... really?!?

I have the crappy stock radio (well actually, I like the radio, the speakers suck ass, but that is besides the point). How much those booster things go for and where to get them? How much of a PITA is it to install??

Radio shack used to sell them, it was a antenna plug, a power, ground and remote. 4 Wires.

I tried CCC in the morning when I did'nt have my S50 Home kit yet. It was horrible. Sebastion is a tool and I emailed CCC that he is going to bring the station down.

1-9-06 is a day I will always remember!

Thank god for Serius

I only have two stations programed in, 106.9 and 107.3. I actually listen to my CDs more. Or sometimes I just shut the radio off and just listen to my exahust.

But yeah I usually don't listen to the radio for more than 10mins in the morning. But then again I'm pretty much at work by that time anyways.

As someone said too bad Radio 104 went bye bye. I remember when that happened too it was like *** is this! What's going on?!

You get 107.3 too??? (and you're only 2 towns over) Geez, is my stock radio the only one that doesn't get it anymore?!?

I might just have to hit up RadioShak and see how much one of them radio signal booster things go for. I always thought they were a scam and didn't really work, but maybe not.

You all are debating about commercial radio - do you really expect any actual variety and original programming? Most stations are owned by only a few big corporations and the strings of mediocrity are being tugged from far away. The situation now is the most pathetic it has ever been.

If you hate what you hear, vote with your ears. Satellite, internet radio (try radioio), podcasts, or maybe even community radio. My area is lucky to have one large college station (at which I DJ) and two LP-FM stations (of 100 watts or less).

If you want to try something new, check out WXGR-LP or, if I may plug my own show, the Trance Lab.

^^^ WCCC was (and still is) not corporate controlled (locally owned too), that is what makes this so pathetic. They really were the best rock station for years - now they are essentially the ONLY rock station, but without competition, they aren't headed in the right direction.

Oh, and I do love my internet radio, but that does me no good in the car.

For the Record:

WCCC just rebroadcasted New York's signal, just like any other non WXRK station. They never had any control over whether or not Howard was there.

I will say though, WXRK made the two stupidest mistakes in the history of radio...

#1: Letting Howard Stern Go.
#2: Attempting to replace Howard Stern with David Lee Roth.
