If you are gonna do autox a large front bar helps tons. I'd do both if you can swing it. I have softly sprung suspension with large bars(27mm up font adjusted to 29 & a 24MM rear adjusted to 22 in the rear).

finally had some time to work on my car tonight and finally got the intake manifold off. got to order more hoses since im already in there. the main ones are the pcv hose to the black spliter thing and the coolant hose that goes between the runners. I got the updated metal fuel hose and rubber lines. also got new injector O-rings. those were really expensive! got the downpipe off and got a new oval exhaust. I got a oem downpipe and will use the ova exhaust to try and get it barred. then ill swap out the turbo for a cheap ebay 16g turbo and up pipe. 20180729_204517 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180729_204536 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180729_231255 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180729_231239 by meme meme, on Flickr |

sti control arm caster adding part numbers correct?
trying to order 04 sti control arm to add caster. I get 3 updated part numbers. here are the most recent ones
20202FE800 right 20202FE311 left on the listing one of the number say it is for 06 sti. do I have thses part numbers correct? ordered perrin front 25mm swaybar. the rear kit got canceled. seller says they cant get the perrin rear sway kit with stout mount anymore. so search is on for the rear kit. wondering if state ref cares if I have a perrin intake tube to tubo? I have a stock filter box and maf tube though. |

got the car running about 2 weeks ago, but had idle issues. checked codes and figured I clean the idle valve. it was filled with gunk! cleaned it but had to wait 3 days for the gasket. now it runs great.
got the front 04 sti control arms and rear sedan lateral arms. had to grind the edge of the front subframe cause the axles rub. also got the front and rear perrin 25mm swaybar and links installed I also got the 04 reinforced rear swaybar mounts ordered a solenoid for my water sprayer awhile back and finally came in today. still need to order the fittings. the hole looks really small so hope the pump can push the water through fast enough. after much searching I finally got the srs light to go out. found that the control module connector green part was not clicked down because it was broken. took the unit apart and pushed down the green part to separate the pins inside. and it worked! no light on the on the dash anymore. got an alignment set for next Thursday and ill be calling to see what needs to be done to get my car bared. car is running great with no codes. so hope it works out. next autocross at fontana is in October so I have a few weeks. 20180816_222417 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180829_150641 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180829_150904 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180829_202859 by meme meme, on Flickr 20180829_202843 by meme meme, on Flickr 2018-08-29_09-06-40 by meme meme, on Flickr |

Well, i miss the last autocross event at el toro. But i ended up getting ready for my ref appointment next week. I removed everythibg that was not oem and even my cow print radiator hose!
Waiting at glendale subaru to get a print out of my ecu. $145 & 3hrs later they bring me 3 printed sheets of paper that was taken by a phone and emailed printed out. Not sure if this will work. But the advisor was condescending. I told him that this wont work. His reply was priceless! So i wasted my time. And you know everything and i know nothing. I replied you are at work getting paid. I wasted 3 hours of my day waiting. This is something that can be done in 10mins. I know other cars came first. But really, if i was the tech, i would have jumped on this work because it was customer pay and not warranty work. Usually tech get paid more on customer pay work. And while waiting for the car and diag equipment to communicate i could have pulled another car in to work on. These guys really dont know how to flat rate. Or maybe they arent on flat rate. So made call to subaru van nuys for a friday appointment. I asked for ecu calibration print out and seems like he knew right away what i was talking about. So hope this time works out better. |

thanks the only thing I hate is that I cant get the right door molding. and its a sore to my eyes to see it like that. on subarupartsdeal shows driver door and both quarter panel moldings still for sale.

but I had to reinstall the spc arms to get the right rear toe back in spec. I had switched to sedan links because I wasn't sure how much longer sedan links are compared to wagon. so I did my best to eye the links off the car. I couldn't get to westend for another alignment so I just went local. I get some noise from I think the left rear area when I take off from a stop, no launching just regular driving. it sounds like a thin rod hitting each other. but it only last about a second or so. I think its coming from the cv joints. axels are still wagons so not sure if that will have any damage later. so hopefully this Friday I pass first try. I started laying out parts to install if I pass Friday. I noticed that my up-pipe I got awhile ago has warped flanges. so ill have to take those flanges to a grinder. I also got a cheap 16g turbo and I hope to get some injectors and fuel pump this black Friday sale. I got the access port tuner program thing awhile ago and hope to try learn how to tune. I know it wont be perfect but I really want to try to do everything myself, as much as I can. side note; Im looking for another project. I have 3 options -V8 ly6 6.0l and ls9 cam in a 300zx hardtop (or 5.3l depends if I can find one that is really priced great) -K24 swap in a NB miata keeping the miata 6spd -2003 e46 m3; I would keep this stock engnine and just do coilover, brake pads/lines, wheel/tires. csl copy front bumper all three cars would end up about the same price once I get everything installed as planned. |

well all the prepping and I still failed.
20181019_115735 by meme meme, on Flickr for others that want to get their swap barred; here is what they need. they said the print out isn't that important, but they want the dealer to put on the RO that ecu is cali legal, no mods, stock calibration/programing. basicly to "hold the dealer accountable if paper work gets kicked back." 20181019_132137 by meme meme, on Flickr 20181019_132151 by meme meme, on Flickr my evap readiness was not complete. I forgot to check this but when I got home I checked with my accessport and it says ready. so not sure if it turned ready on the drive home. made another appointment for nov9 in whittier. anyone know a dealer that has done the printout and RO that the ref needs? these are the paper work I got from gendale Subaru that didn't work. 20181019_132723 by meme meme, on Flickr 20181019_132748 by meme meme, on Flickr I had my work table ready for the turbo upgrade and up pipe. that will have to wait till dec. |

For the paper work I got from orange coast Subaru I asked them to check the map and verify in writing that it is an oem subaru map. i also asked them to write doen the Cal Id and Calibration verification number.
Your documentation just says that they need to verify if the ecu goes with the engine and is stock. Meaning they didn't do it. I'll try to find my paper work that orange coast gave me. |

thank for the pics! ill try and get an appointment with Subaru of orange. I might have to move my appointment with the ref.
im giving up on the door moldings. ill just wait till next winter and see if I feel like taking the entire car apart for body work. knowing hw I am, I might not do it. some more parts came in. I got walbaro 255 with wrx kit( hope its a real kit), 950cc injectors used, 2 more intake manifold gaskets. I have an up pipe and td05-16g turbo looks like I wont have time till after new years to install the parts so I might try and rebuild a spare block I got. maybe cheap pistons and rods off ebay and see how it last. then save my current motor for smog. 2018-10-29_08-32-32 by meme meme, on Flickr |

this week has been busy with work. so today had a few minutes and started taking apart the spare motor. thanks for the encouragement! small update; 20181117_145100 by meme meme, on Flickr subi gods aren't liking me. I was pulling the spare motor off the stand and thought I was still young. well as it pulled it out, the motor dropped and I heard a pop from my right wrist. good news I didn't drop the motor. I use to be able to lift 3sgte, 4ag, h22 sr20 all the time back in the day. makes me realize im old now. went to er the next evening. had to drive o orange Subaru the next day and couldn't miss that appointment. they said that they had to email subi north America to see if my programing was cali legal and unmodified. but they would not be able to get an answer till the next week. so I told them to just write the numbers and ill take my chances. this morning went to LA trade tech for ref. and they are more picky then pierce college. they said I had to remove my boost control /gauge. I told them it wasn't hooked up and showed them the wires. says nope. has to be removed. he did try and send an email to sacramento to see if they could verify my cid numbers. came back "ecu is modified"! side note, even if it wasn't modified they only give you an hour or so to finish to inspection. we waited a bit more then an hour(I was removing the guage to kill time) for the email. so I would have had to make another appointment anyways. the ref put in the new ro that ecu needs to be flashed back to oem by dealer on invoice. so leave and head to Subaru of van nuys. they said can not flash oem program, can only update. I woud have to get a new ecu. then he asked me if I had an access port. I said yes but put back to stock program. then a BIG light bulb turns on in my head! I used a stock program from cobb but did not unmarry it!! now im waiting for a call back from the ref to see if he will accept a used ecu with the cid read out and confirm my subi NA that it is cali and oem program. van nuys dealer said they will need a few days after sending the email to get a reply since its the holidays. things have changed, I use to work for bmw and we always had support within a few hours of our emails. on to better news; I got a few parts in to start rebuilding the block. im going cheap on this one. ebay gasket set and npr pistons and rings sti rods ball hone waiting for replies from stores. looking to get a few parts and hopping they can give me a discount hks equal length header killer b pick up brian crower 272 cams 4 oem cam gears gates racing timing kit and water pump company23 cam tool and lock tool and a few other things I cant remember. ill try the head gaskets that comes with it and see if it last. 20181118_112852 by meme meme, on Flickr lrft oem pistons in the solvent to long. 20181121_065445 by meme meme, on Flickr la trade tech ref station 20181121_082808 by meme meme, on Flickr |

got the coolant leak fixed. hopefully it last.
one major part that I could not find before was the passenger front door molding protector thing. it was discontinued and could not find one so I never ordered the rest of the moldings. I found one on ebay and just got it yesterday! with that part I could order the other 3 moldings from Subaru. now it wont have to look at al the holds in the body panels. panels still have a ton of dings everywhere though. but I don't want to paint it yet. some more parts came in for the rebuild. brian crower stg2 cams and springs company23 tools and timing guide 2 more Subaru boxes 2 more covers, cam gears, water pump, and a bunch of bolts and gaskets. 20190108_204339 by meme meme, on Flickr 20190108_204936 by meme meme, on Flickr 20190107_212639 by meme meme, on Flickr 20190107_212843 by meme meme, on Flickr 20190107_213433 by meme meme, on Flickr 20190107_213500 by meme meme, on Flickr |
