They wanted to give me $16.4k trade-in on my car. Scary thought. That was for 'Good' cleanliness and such, though. If I went with 'Excellent' then it'd be close to $17.4k.

I guess all I can do is hope I never wreck the car...

Good luck getting it all situated and finalized... You're in a pretty bad position if your insurance company won't pay for a replacement (especially since dealer cost is about $17k on an RS, and they'll sell them $100 over list - about $18.1k pretty easily).

I suppose if you went to the dealer that got yours from and tell him what is going on, then tell him you are also a part of the national Subaur Impreza club, you could get list or possibly (if you're really good) a few hundred over cost.

Question

I don't know about you, but when I financed my car, my credit union offered insurance against this type of thing. It was only about $70. I am glad I got it now!

dino, that's a shame! Hold out on a settlement with the insurance company as long as you possibly can. Send (fax) your adjuster price quotes all the time, and make sure you add little snippets insinuating legal action, i.e. "If you won't comply with this proposal, I may be forced to pursue legal action.. blah blah" They will pay. No doubt! I just went through the same thing! They will probably call local dealers looking for prices, you should be ok. You should expect around $19,000 for it. Retail is $20,400 according to Kelly Blue Book.

Unhappy what is my00 market value? my car just got totalled..sad...

Does anyone know the market value of my00 RS 2dr? I'm hoping it would be somewhere around 18000. I had the car for 5 months and got an accident which bodyshop claimed unrepairable. it doesn't look that bad from outside but has lot of frame damage. unfortunately, my insurance company won't give me replacement cost. What should i do to get most out from my insurance company? need help fast..

go there and look up the blue book value. Your insurance company should give you a comparible amount, but you might get screwed

Talking

Hey Dino, if you decide to "buy back" your car, let me know. I would be interested in, well, everything. How bad was it wrecked? How is the engine/trans/rear-end/interior? Once you settle with the insurance company, you can offer to buy your car back for scrap.

At this moment, I'm mostly interested in the front wheel/hub/brake assembly. Let me know.

Sorry ARG, the car was damaged in the front area. front right to be exact. engine and transmission should be OK although there seems to be an anlignment problem with the linkage. right suspension is un-repairable. hub seems to be OK. car had 13000 miles so brakes are in good condition. other than frontal damage and windshield, car is in perfect shape. the body-shop estimated 14000 to fix the car.

To anyone interested in parting out my car!

As of now, I will not buy the car back from the insurance company. However, if anyone is interested in buying the whole car at a price(i'm not sure yet) my insurance company is asking, I will be willing to buy the car from the insurance company for you. You can part out the car or do whatever you want. maybe you can fix it and drive.
