Scrappy I was thinking exactly the same thing

This giant thread speaks for itself. Most people have better things to do than waste time posting up fake stories about workshops.

Anyone who wishes to PM me and ask me about my 4 month waking nightmare with Vivid Racing and it's unique approach to customer service are more than welcome.

Yeah its pretty much understood, vivid isnt a reliable company. Im sure they have all the hook ups and all went to business classes. but they just dont have good people skills it seems, and just cant be as reliable as other vendors out there. The only thing i really liked about vivid, was the ability to have rare and hard to find parts. But then again, wahts that matter if they arent in stock...

my replies are directed about vivid simply cause I see I can't sway peoples opinions, but some of the bashing seems to be out of line.

There are opinions and there are facts. You're mostly presenting your opinions and trying to dispute others' facts.

Fact is I've been through alot of the stuff you guys have with vividracing. another fact is I seem to be a bit more understanding about your guys' epic soapbox problem. I understand somethin' said to be in stock and it turns out it's not. That's the only real thing people are talkin' about though. That would upset me also...but to blame vivid then cause they can't get it for you tomorrow cause it's sittin' in japan. I dunno bash on. Just sayin' i've been through the same stuff you guys have. Just i'm not as sour.

Not having stuff in stock is one thing, it's a whole different thing to sell people used items as new, broken items, items with parts missing, never shipping items, overcharging for items, and giving horendous customer service. Those are facts, and have been seen time and time again on this board, clubwrx, evolutionm.net, and every other board they were vendors on.

There's a reason why they were banned from almost every subaru board.

Default Vividracing?

How come everyone seems to bad mouth vividracing. I am jsut woundering because from what I can tell they seem to have the best prices and everything. Is the reason why you bad mouth them because you got ur car tunned buy them or just buying parts from them.

I used to like Vivid Racing years ago. They used to be an only Subaru/Mitsubishi etc. part supplier. Now they have transformed into a big company.
Everything is more complicated now, and confusing.
I mean, who pays money to view exhaust sound clips?

lets just say they were asked not to renew their vendor status on here.

poor business practices resulted in a lot of dissapointed customers and as for low prices. it always seemed to me that they were more expensive

very true i use to purchase from Vivid back in 2002.Awesome company i do remember when parts were priced nicely and they only carried subaru and mitsubishi products.Flash foward to 2004 and they seem more money hungry and not what the use to be.The prices could be better as well.Just like carrying products some stuff is priced fair and some stuff is priced to make a huge profit.

It seemed like they made a lot of their profit from S&H...

Never ordered from them before; just from hearsay on the boards...

They were just ..ok.. when I used them. Now there are so many better places to look for parts and upgrades. I dont bad mouth vivid, but I dont use them anymore either.

I tried to order stuff from them a couple times, but just didnt have any success. They kept telling me they didnt have any of the stuff I wanted, but kept trying to sell me other stuff that I didnt want. For example, I wanted a Perrin shift knob and they kept telling me he could give me a killer deal on the prodrive one. Couldnt get off the phone a couple times because they kept trying to find me "better deals" on stuff I wasnt even looking for.
I was initially impressed by their well designed web site complete w/ good pictures and other stuff. I soon realized that it was mostly over priced, and many other members have had bad experiences with them. Their sales staff is sub-par, and questionable sales practices have caused the vendor status to be removed....

Try to steer clear of Vivid
There are many other better places on the Intarweb

A slick website and decent prices don't mean crap when you don't get your stuff. I'll gladly pay a bit more so that I don't have to wait a month and a half for a boost gauge. (been there, done that). tried to cancel it the day after I ordered it and I was told that I couldn't because it had already been shipped. Shipped by what? A damn camel caravan? Over a month in shipping time? Rude as hell on the phone. That was my first purchase for my car and my only purchase from vivid.

I think vivid has built some nice cars, but I would personally never order anything from them. After hearing one bad experience after another, that is all the convincing I need. There are other vendors with better prices, more items in stock, and much better customer service.

Angry

I WANTED to buy the UK300 headlights from VIVID.

The page with the headlights said special order only so I emailed them using the forum on the contact page.

This was about 2 weeks ago. Never got a reply.

So I went back to that page and remember that there were a list of email address to contact specific people. Well I picked the [email protected] I think it was. And emailed that one inquiring about the same headlights. That was almost 2 weeks ago too. Still haven't heard a reply. So they lost my business and that would have been an $800+ dollar sale. Oh well.

Anyone know any place to buy the UK300 headlights for 02 wrx? The prodrive rally looking ones. Please PM me a link thanks.

Angry Vivid Racing sucks!

VIVID RACING SUCKS! I bought my brembo kit through Vivid Racing. When I got the kit to my house and finally was able to find the time to do the install I realised that it was incomplete. The kit was missing a few bolts, and the bolts that were sent with the kit were way way too long. Almost an inch too long. Also, they sent me the instruction manual for the Grand Turismo kit not the STi upgrade kit which is in fact what I had recieved in the mail.

I checked and checked again to make sure that I was absolutely correct and I was. I then contacted Vivid Racing and when I spoke to a few people in the company they had no idea what they were talking about. Then when they realised that they were in the wrong instead of correcting their wrong they sent me else where. They sent me to Brembo blaming it on them saying that they most likely sent them an incomoplete kit.

I then called Brembo. Brembo sent me to Race Tek. Race Tek is the authorised dealer for the US, as I understand it, they were more than help full and did all that they could to help me out in my time of need. After talking with a guy (who will remain nameless out of curtessy) who works at Race Tek, who by the way went out of his way to help me out even though it was Vivid's fault and not his. Mr. X told me, after talkinig with me a few times on the phone and more carefully inspecting the kit, that it was in fact incomplete. But not just that. The bolts that were sent for the front calipers were not bolts that were sent with Brembo's kits. In fact he had never heard of these bolts over being used in any of Brembo's kits EVER! He should know as Race Tek sends Brembo kits all over the United States.

Mr. X then sent me the correct bolts and I finally was able to get my brakes put on my car.

The moral of the story is that Vivid Racing sucks. And they are incapable people. The guy whom I spoke to on the phone didn't know his ass from his elbow. I have more knowledge than him about Vivid's products and he sells them for god sakes. It's not just that. When you screw up it is comomon curtessy to fix what you did. Especially if you want to keep a good name for yourself.

To make it worse my brakes came 2 weeks to a month later than they said it would. I no longer do anything with Vivid and suggest you do the same to avoid the great annoyance I did.

Here are some pics of me finally getting my car back on wheels after 3 weeks of it being on jack stands because of Vivid.

BTW I would like to thank Mr. X for everything he did for me (you know whom you are).

Pics:

BTW, this is the short version of what happened to me.

They are also expensive. Compare their prices with other companies and you will see. An example, the first URL is for Ultimate Racing (a good co. I might add) the second URL is for vivid. Vivid's pricing on the same turbo kit is over $1,000 more than the actual co. that made the kit. That's rediculous.

The only good thing I can say about Vivid is that there website is wonderfull. Congrats to their web designer.
