Default 2004 2.5RS ecu work?

Hey guys, I have a 2004 2.5rs with a 2.5" free flow zorst, custom headers, lightweight pulley and a DIY CAI. I have a unichip sitting in my closet that im thinking of installing in my car. Is it worth it as I hear you are not able to tune the 2004 2.5rs ecu's??? How much power can I expect to gain?

Thanks alot,
Dammod

I know nothing about the unichip but I have similar mods on my 04 with a PP6 for my EM. I did notice a little different going from my stock map to a stage 2 map but mostly it just felt better and the smoother. i would bet only a few but it will drive better.

I-Speed.

Yeah, the ECUs can be tuned, OpenECU. It's just knowing how to do it.

I have someone who can tune but he said (along with most posts I have seen on the net) that the 2004 impreza DBC cars cant be tuned as of yet?

The 04 ecu can't be tuned by open source it's the only year it doesn't work. That is why I have the PP6, a tactric cable would have been a lot easier and cheaper.

well you tell them what you have done to your car and they ill tune it by maps they already have made up for similar mods to their shop car they used. but idk alot about ecu's so im not sure if different countries have diff ecu's but i would think you could just ship it to them and it wouldnt be any diff then living in the states.. id email them if i were you and ask. from what i hear they are a very good company! hope that helps you out!

04 isnt the only year that cant be opensource tuned, it's the last year that can't be opensource tuned. the 05 2.5RS and 06/07 2.5i can all be opensource tuned currently. the 08+'s are hit and miss last I heard, but only because they havn't had the chance to decode all the ECU versions used. So if you have an 08+ and a tactrix cable, pull your rom and send it to the RR guys so they can get it supported. unfortunately I dont think this is an option for pre 05 N/A vehicles.
