Im loving my legacy style kinugawa td06sl2 20g 8cm2 2.4 inlet on my 2011 fxt on e85. It spools fast i see 23 psi by 3800 to 4000 rpm depending on the gear and it pulls hard to redline. I wouldnt hesitate to get another kinugawa turbo its great quality and had no install problems what so ever. The only problem is i almost maxed out my fuel system because it flows so much for my id1000 and 300lph pump im hoping a hardwire of the pump will lower my idc a little.

Are you using top mount and do you have the STS Kamak wheel on yours? I am waiting to pick up my 2011 with a full built motor, 6 spd trans swap full supports mods, FMIC and Leggy style Kamak 20 GTX billet with the 9-blade STS HS wheel!

To those that picked up the TD06SL2-20G, did you ever look into the TD06H-20G? I was under the impression that a billet compressor wheel on a TD06H-20G would minimize some lag, while holding up on the top-end.

Why sure we have, I dont understand your point this has been covered time and time again... sure thats obvious. Also if you put a billet comp wheel it would spool fasted too.

^Jelphree point is valid, seems they just added the billet wheel option for 2013 on the TD06H not TD06SL2, bought my TD06SL2 in Nov 2012 and I don't remember seeing that option available at the time on the TD06H. Personally even the option was available last year I would have still chosen the TD06SL2 since this smaller turbine wheel provides faster spool (54/61mm) vs TD06H (58/67mm), although the billet TD06H 58/67mm may have less inertia than the smaller cast TD06SL2 54/61mm??

Also, I ordered my billet wheel before it was listed on the site, I simply asked since I knew there was a Kamak connection. I'd wager you can get a billet wheel in damn near any standard size turbo they offer. I don't see a billet wheel TD06H spooling anything like a TD06SL2 with a cast wheel, they are just too different for a lightweight comp wheel to even them out. |

^you mean the TD06SL2 will spool faster than a larger but lighter billet TD06H wheel, right?

Yes, of course, without anything other than this old noodle's logic to back it up. The difference in the TD06SL2 and TD06H turbines IMO is enough to negate any real benefit of the billet wheel assuming expectations are that a billet "H" will spool like a standard "SL2". Unless of course, you're only comparing compressors and not entire CHRAs. As far as comparing compressors only? Not sure as there's more to the equation than just "scale mass" as this is a rotating part. Weight distribution throughout the compressor and mass leverage on the turbine shaft will come into effect and I'm not engineering degree'd enough to give any solid input on that note.

Which turbo are you interested in? What are your power goals?
Yes, they have multiple turbos that will fit an 04 WRX. |

I want an 18g. Power goals: no preference. I just want a conservative tune, not pushing too hard. Something that wouldn't break my transmission as long as I baby it.
I just want something more than a VF39. |

The Kinugawa 16g and 18g are the same price, so I figure I might as well get the 18g.

I ordered a td06H4 11 blade 20g chra from Kinugawa today. I'm going to stick it into a 7cm^2 turbine housing and ewg, see how it spools then try it in an 8cm^2 and ewg to see which works better. This will go into my youngest son's 2012 STI. I wouldn't normally even try a 7cm on a 2.5 but a friend is saying that it'll be so good that I won't even try the 8cm.
We'll see, I've tried the normal td06h 12 blade 20g before in both turbine housings with IWG and didn't like the numb feeling from that big wheel. Hope he's right. |

Yes im on a perrin tmic and a 4eat auto transmission. No i dont have the upgraded wheel i didnt even know it was an option or it wasnt when i bought it but it has the upgraded kamak thrust bearing in it and i looked and i dont think i would justify an extra $900 for the billet 9 blade wheel upgrade on the kamak unit. It is a real nice turbo and for $830 shipped to my door i would say its a hell of a deal.

He runs this set up tuned by a well known NW tuner. The tuner says it's one of his favorite dd set ups. We'll see, I have both turbine housings so it'll be interesting to see the results. I'm also hoping the newer 11 blade will be a bit more responsive than the older 12 blade. I'd have run something else but it ain't my car.
