No you do not need a special downpipe for the SR series turbos.

No I think Sordid is correct, I believe you need a dp with a bellmouth design.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that someone was using the TurboXS downpipe with no problems on a SR-30, I think it's the biggest mass produced one out a 4". I'm not sure if it would work but the scoobysport is also a Bellmouth but not quite as big.-James

The wastegate valve extends past the flange. Probably any bell-mouth type downpipe will work.

I'm guessing APS's own exhaust system should work too.

A nice twin dump with the seperator tongue cut off should work nicely.

Thanks -

My m2 performance uppipe worked fine with an egt bung. I had to file down my BPM down pipe though. The divider was hitting the turbo.

yes the godspeed downpipe does have an egt bung.

you might have fitment issues with the godspeed downpipe cause the flange might not clear the uppipe bolts (has nothing to do with the turbo). this was the case with mine and i had to grind off about a cm off the bottom of the flange. however, dan (godspeed) has said that this problem was taken care of and shouldn't be an issue anymore.

since the sr series turbos are bolt ons, they should fit any uppipe and downpipe that will fit the stock turbo, though you may run into downpipe fitment issues if the downpipe has a wastegate divider that extends out too much like wrxxer had experienced. depending on how far the wastegate opens on the sr turbo during operation, you may be able to get away with using the stock downpipe, though i highly recommend you get one that flows a lot better, more specifically a full bellmouth design (godspeed's bellmouth doesnt extend across the entire flange opening like turboxs') or one with a separated wastegate flowpath (bpm, syms, cusco, zerosports, flatt racing, etc)
