Exclamation 2000-2004 Legacy engine swap problem

hi i'm new here ^^

i am wondering if the following engine is compatible for 2000-2004 Legacy GT 5MT

- USDM EJ20 turbo from Impreza WRX
- USDM EJ25 turbo from Baja Turbo or Forester Turbo or 2005- Legacy GT
- USDM EJ25 turbo from Impreza WRX STi (with 6MT)

assume that the conversion includes wiring, harness, ECU and other essential stuff...

if i swap a STi engine and the 6 speed into the Legacy, will I need to change the driveshaft since I am uncertain about the length...

thanks!

yes, all of those are 'compatible'(read possible). you will need to either get the Sti driveshaft or get an auto driveshaft, either works.

for STi engine swap: but do i need the 4 hubs and STi diff, and the axles? i am quite worried that if the hub is larger, i may need to swap the suspension and brakes as well... =.="

by the way, what's the hub size for 2000 - 2004 Legacy and 2005- Impreza WRX STi? i noe it's 5 lug, that's it... =.="

other than that, while new ECU is present, will it gonna cause problem on non-engine related items such as traction control, ABS, airbags... etc?

I will answer to the best of my ability on those.

depending on what you are attempting, you may need the 4 hubs and diff. That is all your choice. To use the Sti brakes and rear diff you need the hubs/axles/rear subframe and new suspension for it to work. the rear suspension on the Sti is different, with 2 bolts connecting the strut to the hub as opposed to 1 on the legacy. Also, doing the full R180 and rear subframe has yet to be done on a BE/BH, it is my opinion that it will prob work with the new suspension and new adjustable lateral links.

If you want to do it the easier way and use your stock axles and brakes, then just get a 3.9 R160 and put your lsd in it.

If by hub size you mean lug pattern, the legacy is 5x100, the new 05 sti is 5x114, however the 04 STi is still 5x100.

if you really want everything to work properly get all the harness and components, you will need the STi abs module and related sensors if you want DCCD to work.

the question is are you doing the work or is someone else doing it, either way i suggest you start comparing wiring diagrams A LOT

hope that helps some.

Ben
does this mean an entire rear subframe (minus diff) from an STI (or WRX) would bolt up to the BE chassis? that would / might mean the rear struts (STI or WRX) could be used?
the front struts "should" be interchangeable.
hhmmm, thinking of a suspension conversion here....
