I'm in the processs of installing a 315hp EJ207DW from a JDM STi S202 and 4.44 6-speed (with plated front diff) into my 1995 Legacy race car. I'm not sure if race cars are considered swaps though...

i know a guy who is putting a snowmobile engine into the middle of a justy and using the sleds CVT transmission to build the ultimate rallycross go kart. they are even toying with the idea of relocating the driving position to the center of the car. not sure if they are gonna go AWD or RWD. it should have twice the HP and half the weight as a stock justy. should be fun.

I had my EJ18 turbocharged for well over a year. It was definately reliable as a daily driver. I ran a 15.09 @ 89mph at 7psi on my own tune with a SAFC. Was a lot more fun at 12.

Now *that* is what I'm talking about! Cool!

I wonder if "more and more tech into older and older cars" might be the next wave...

I have a MY93 EJ22T. Will be putting Crawford forged pistons and billit rods in w/ new cryoed rod and crank bearings, and total seal piston rings. I'll be getting the engine balanced via Machine shop in town. I'll be using MY98 DOHC heads with JUN 264 cams and valvetrain kit. Will be strapping on a Section 8 STi turbokit, contains GT30R turbo. I have to find myself a FMIC, probably APS's version for the GC8. Will run Hydra stand alone ECU w/ MY99 intake manifold. Fuel with Crawford 80lb stg 2 fuel kit, walbro fuel pump. This is what I have planned. we'll see what happens this summer. Hopefully I'll have the engine done by then with the heads.

This'll be going into my MY99 Impreza L wagon. It's just a wagon....

What I have an Impreza that's all business, I'm allowed to have a car with a little bit of character. Hell, it's an Aveo, they aren't much to look at as it is. Some city lights and some interior glow under the dash and seat will be fine. It's not like I'm going to make the car a track star. The thing gets 35mpg... more when I open up the exhaust a little bit. I've already modified the intake by opening the box entrance to 2.5" from 2" and putting a flare to smooth out the airflow into the pipe. It all looks stock until you take it apart. Even then you won't know unless you know very well what the stock setup is. Today I filled in the motor mounts and put polyurethane bushings on the front sway bar. Is that rice too?

I know the inside neon is rice, but you know what, I'm entitled. The car will probably never be able to break into the 16's as long as I own it, I might as well have some kinda fun with it.

Wait and you shall see. Currently my RS has an 11.4:1 CR engine with all the bolt ons, cams, etc. I have an Ej257 block that I am overboring to 100mm and putting JE 13:1 CR pistons into, along with Pnp heads and even more agressive cams. I was just on the verge of buying the pistons this month, and blew the center diff on my tranny. Sets back the timeline a bit, but this should be built this summer.

Another "interesting" swap I have played with is taking an older SVX 6 and swapping in EJ22T pistons to drop the CR, and then boosting the crap out of it...

I've done a little bit of conversion on my soob.. just haven't posted in this part of the forum..

87 subaru turbo wagon

Converted from part time 4wd auto to full time 4wd 5 speed with locking center diff and LSD rear diff.

Went from 7.7:1 C/R to 9.0:1 using a shortblock from a carb'd 87 wagon
Upgraded the stock VF7 turbo to a WRX TD04 turbo
went from no intercooler to a stock WRX unit
also stuffed most of a WRX exhaust system in there.. muffler was too big though
can't forget suspension - converted from the 4x140 lug pattern (and the crappity 13 inch wheels that go along with it) to 5x100 and some better 16 inch wheels
Also converted to some adjustable coilovers that were marketed for a WRX.
And to make things look just a little better, I found a nice stock RX body kit and grill for the wagon

Sometimes it sucks having an old car with no aftermarket available... but then again, sometimes its fun

See.. conversions aren't dead.. just hiding in unexpected places

I have plans to do a sick sleeper out of an 85-89 GL hatch (if I can find one in our region) and I was thinking of doing an ER27 swap and fab a turbo setup... I have done some research and feel that it is somewhat do-able, but we'll see.

his other vehicle is an open class v-8 powered 04 s-10.

the justy was often FTD at our rallycrossses w/the stock motor and a totally gutted interior (he removed the rear hatch and plasma torched the door shells) and a broken front left spring. the key to this vehicle is it weighs nothing and is so small you NEVER have to lift.

i would love to see some more ej powered ea series cars.

Its the quiet before the storm...

Then again...you may be correct in saying that there are no interesting swaps left.

I was under the impression that the topic was pertaining to Subies...but I am actually in the process of swapping a 1.8T motor sitting in my garage into an A1. Might not be toooo interesting but PITA anyway. Still looking for a shell. A buddy of mine thought of the idea about putting it in an old school mini. That should be interesting I think.

Well, mostly. But when the discussion is in the "Conversions" forum, those rules have to be a little looser. Subaru related is probably the guideline for this thread. For example... taking a STi shell, and making a monster truck out of it? Won't be many Subaru parts left, but that _would_ be pretty interesting!

Working on that one. Depending on when things fail, and if I have a second set of wheels to get me to work will determine how built the engine will be.

At the very least is stage II heads/cams from somewhere and stand alone EM. Money and getting to work determine how far the internals and bottem end get done.

This car was built by my shop nearly 20 years ago. I don't think this ghia needs to catch up...
