Highest HP Subaru on Pump and race fuel?
I'm a n00b when it comes to high HP stuff, but I'm curious.
Who has made the most wheel HP on pump gas and on race gas? I was just day dreaming about building up a 600WHP street driven STI and it seems it's only possible with race gas. What would be the best compromise, 93 pump with meth? It seems expensive to run race fuel all the time and E85 is still hard to find. Feel free to lock this thread if it's stupid.

What would be needed to create a nice high HP[at least 600WHP] street driven STI?
RAW block? Cosworth block? GT40 twin scroll? |

it is too expensive for c16 on the street and i wish i could run it all the time, but pump and meth would be lots of fun |

If you want 600whp on pump gas I suggest you get an engine with a bit more cubic inches..

First off, before building your setup take a year and research. Try and figure out exactly what you want out of your setup.
If you dont have a goal before you start, then you'll never be done. Ask yourself these questions (or tell us the answers if you already know them) - Whats the goal of the car? Do you wanna drag race, autox, or simply a 600whp dyno queen? - Why 600whp? Why not 550whp or 650whp? Do you have a certain trap speed or ET you wanna reach? - What dyno are you gonna be using? Set aside $30-60k to get this project done. ~$30k in parts and $30k in labor. You know you can get a used z06 for ~$20k now right |

I think the OP just wants to know what it takes, not really do it.
If he wants to stay with 4 cyl turbos, I'd say ditch the subaru, and get a talon tsi or eclipse gsx and or evo and slap on a big turbo. you'll be @ 600 all day on 93 with the right turbo setup and some motor work Listen to whatever Phatron has to say in regards to subarus.. but, for street use, point A to B, I think 300-350 whp is more then enough.. ****, a stock 2.0 wrx is more then enough for just "daily driving" |

Why would you need to put a whole lot of money in it because it is an 02? You can invest a whole lot less and get a Z06 to be equal to a 600 STi. I love my Subaru but corvette Z06 is a better based car for dragging/straight line racing. This is not a hate on Subaru. STi's and WRX were not built for the purpose of straight line racing. They do off road and autox great and that is what they are built for. A 600whp Z06 would be much easier to drive then a 600whp STi.

lol....i dont think we wanna start down that road....
but personally, i'd take a $20k car that can run 11's stock over a 600whp unreliable money pit..... |

Well an 02 Z06 has only 400 chp, low 300whp, thats the same as a regular +05 vette. The +05 Z06 is nothing comapared to
any other vette. 1st and 2nd gear are pretty much useless with street tires. Only the +05 Z06's will run 11's not the older ones. You just cant compare an old Z06 to a 600whp car Last edited by sleepersti04; 12-30-2008 at 04:12 PM. |

What you really need for HP is an old Viper with a twin turbo setup on it... They are able to get some ungodly whp levels on 91 octane fuel alone... just amazing stuff.

I'm at 520whp on 93 + meth; 35R/Stock engine. Daily driven for the last 4 or so years. Keep up the routine maintenance and be smart about driving it and you shouldn't have any problems.

I actually wish they didnt call the Z06 a Z06. I wish they called it the ZR1 instead. So the old ZR1 and the new ZR1 would both be N/A. and the ZR1 now would be the Z06 being supercharged. trying to keep somewhat tradition |
