Elliot, and everyone
It's $15 for the instrument panel... but since in my opinion the climate gagues are ghetto in design but perfect in what it accomplishes...I'm giving it away for free. I guess I'm generous. HA HA -Kevin |

I don't suppose the Legacy gauges are the same as the Impreza gauges, are they? I mean, other than the fact that the RS ones are white, and my GT's are black... Hell, I wonder if I could swap them out?
Anyhow, does anyone forsee any reasons that this wouldn't work on my GT? I mean, I'd probably have to cut out a different design (unless somebody wants me to pay them to do it for me. Heh heh), but otherwise, can I expect similar results? Thanks |

I noticed in your pic that the zero on the tach is still green....as well as somewhere around the middle of your gas gauge? Why is that, and do you have some clearer pics and pics of the climate control too?

Bank,
this is a question about the PM you gave me... Quote:
When I was developing my mod (I'm sure must be simmilar to yours) I never ran into this problem at all and couldn't figure out how it could happen. In the development phase I went as far as removing the needles & gauge face, and my needle still work perfectly. The mod I've done is proven and installed on other RS's other than mine with no problems at all. ( and I'm only what I've done only becuase I don't know all the details of your, but I'm sure both our mods are almost totaly identical) When I've personally shown other how to do and they too just scratch there head trying to figure out why you think it wouldn't work and how you messed up your needle in the 1st place. You've mention that at 1st you use two layers, but it would take up to 5 layers to even get close to displacing the gauge face. So, What happen with yours is it any differnet from the way I did it? You can check my current post were I've layed out everything I've done or found. Please don't take this as a flame, I'm all about technical information that I hope helps others hey that's kinda cool that the board automaticaly cleans up the harsh language, i like it. Hey guys, quick question..I was showing my friend the blue gauges and he was wondering if its possible to do it to his car as well ('96 MR2). Could he do it to his car with the same method as you guys are doing it? Thanks for the info guys, greatly appreciate it.

BTW
Currently I am not 'Selling' the mod. I'm giving it away free and installing (well actualy I just show them an let them do the install work since it so easy ) for local folks and for people out side the area or state, I'm just ask they cover shipping (ground, next day air, whatever) Andrew, It all depends on how your friend instument panel was designed to have the color it has, Film based, Bulb based, ect. The only way to tell is do like we did, have a go at it. If anyone else is wanting some tech details about the mod or have additional ideas there's is a post about How to do this mod. ( I'm sure that both mods that Bank & I offer/showing are praticaly the same, but bank can confim how they are different if they are) Soon I'll adding in how to get to the instument panel. Reiflex, since I am about to go to class in a second... I really don't have time to go into full discussion about the mod, lets put it this way. The needles arent a problem any longer.
Also, I would prefer that if you are directly speaking to me in a post, that you simply PM me, thats what the PM function is for. I'll write again in about 3 hours when I get to my desk at work.... what am I supposed to do? WORK? ha ha! Andrew, I'll respond to your I'm as soon as I get in. Thanks for the business buddy. Talk to everyone in a couple hours... -Kevin |

I know what caused it... it was the design rubbing on the needles and the fact that my piece was to large to smoothly slide behind the gauges.... your piece is basically the same design as my version one... so how u smoothly get it in there...beats me... thats why I made my version 2, which is a whole lot easier.
Personnally I want this bickering to to stop, im really tired of it.. you can sell your knowledge or people can buy from me... it all depends on what the consumer wants. If the consumer is like me... he/she wont want to go thru the tedious process of getting the cut just right (I know you know what I'm talking about), they wont have to go searching for the right material to use. Just simply recieving everything they need to use in the mail from me. So can we make an end to this? -Kevin |

I agree. Its not that i cant go and figure this out. i dont want to. I have other thing to do with my car besides pretty lights, i do like it though so i'll spend the WHOLE $15 bucks (materials & shipping) to make it that much quicker, so i can finish my stereo!
(much more fun, AND easier for ME.) thats why other people pay for car audio installs, the dont want to do it, or cant. I can, so Ill do THAT myself. thank you both for the efforts! Kev watch for my check. HoodWho? [This message has been edited by hoodwho (edited November 21, 2000).] |

Yeah, agreed. I saw them in person and they are very nice. If I hadn't already installed green-lit GReddy gauges throughout my interior, I would have jumped on a kit myself. Gotta stay color-coordinated, right?

Wow, talk about alot of replys.
I went today and took a look at Kevin's mod and it looks really good. Doesn't look or sound too hard to do if you are careful and it does change the way the dash looks in the dark. And when was the last thing you did to your RS that cost only $15 ? Heck, a tank of gas costs more than that. |
