Default *Official* NWIC Employment Thread

Here is the official NWIC employment thread.

This is the place to post up your job wanted posts, or if you know of a job opening that you could share. Be sure to post your skills, type of jobs held in the past, or at least what type of work you are looking to get if you make a looking for work post. For people posting information on an open position, please post as much as you can within reason, like type of position, pay, required experience (or if it is entry level), and contact information.

I will start:

The Bremerton Shipyard is doing a fair amount of hiring for all types of positions. Pay and benefits are generous, with more information listed on the website.

Go here to find open positions, build an online resume, and apply for a job. You may have to do a few extra clicks on the computer to allow your browser to access the page because it appears that they are having problems with their security certificate. Don't worry, the site is safe though.

https://chart.donhr.navy.mil/

Good luck everyone!

I don't think the .mil will hire me with my socio-political beliefs.

too bad, because they sure pay a ton and i'd like to work for Obama.

can we start a protocol and procedure for posting in here?

such as,

bolded industry
position degree level
experience

i.e.

Tech
BS
3+ years

I've found the best job for these times, its called retirement. Yea, I know, most of you are not even close to that, but if you can, this is a good time to do it since it will open up a job for someone else.

This, let's try to keep the replies to PMing. If you are looking for something specific, post up something, but otherwise, discussing positions that are posted shouldn't happen or the thread will just be cluttered.

For me, I am looking for Engineering work around the Portland area (surrounding towns included). My degree is in Nuclear Engineering but I have been working as a Safety Analyst for the past ~15 months so I can do more than only Nuclear related work. If anyone knows of any open positions or companies that would be good to check out, please PM me. Thanks!

Oh and thanks WhiteH20 for starting the official thread!

I guess it wouldn't hurt to post here too.

I'm looking for a Part-Time bartending job in the Bellevue / Seattle area. PM me for complete details if you have anything you think might help.

well. i work at the "Quicklane" at the Bowen Scarff Ford Kent location and i want to say we are looking to fill up to three spots last i heard. soooo, we are a tire and auto care center, we deal a lot in maintenance with oil changes, all sorts of fluid flushes, inspections on all cars that come in.The other main services we perform are like brake jobs, automatic transmission services, 30k 60k 120k ect, axles (cv axles, or axles seals) and mainly work a long those lines that we arent taking too much heavy work from the main tech department at the dealership.... SO if youre interested i would definitely go in and apply, the sooner the better cause theyve been on the search for a while now.

haha totally forgot that there is a CL add they put up also, so here is the link http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/trd/1281759015.html ..... i know how tough it is for some right now finding jobs (took me about 4-5 months to get this one) so i figured i would share.. i mean shoot, we need a few more good guys with strong work ethic and higher efficiency.

Default PSNS civilian not active duty military jobs

The jobs at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard are civilian, civil service jobs. They are not active duty military. You are not joining the Navy. They really don't care what your social political beliefs are. You will have a background check done at some point, so you can't hide much from them.

Avg starting pay has gone down over there in the past couple years. I had a job offer over there last year and decided not to take it based on that.

For the last 3-4 months we have been on hiring freeze because we dont have much work going on but in september it will be balls to the walls. Working for the shipyard has its ups and downs but its a good job. The shop I work for (shop 71) is hiring 84 people by the end of the year.

starting at $14.79 then $17.39 after 6months and then $19.93 after your year is up. I dont know many jobs that will pay that with this economy and no prior experience.

What kind of jobs are they hiring for?

Currently employed as a service advisor, want to get out of the auto industry and Detroit in general. Would prefer something outdoors, but will take anything to get me out there.

Anyway,

I'll just use my form from the MWSOC job thread.

Field: Anything outdoors

Experience: Eager and willing to learn, prefer on the job training.

Available: 30 days

Location: Currently in Detroit, eager and willing to move.

The shipyard? they have all sorts of jobs. They have every job you can think of that involves submarines and naval ships. Painters, sheetmetal, iron workers, welders, riggers, electrical, and a bunch more.

Actually it's gone up every year since I've worked there. I hired in 4 years ago at $12 something an hour. Its up to $14 something an hour now. Also they pay for you to go work at other shipyards. I've been lucky enough to be sent to San Diego, Pearl Harbor, and Yokosuka Japan.

No real experience required, they WILL train you. We also have various shops to choose from. Im in code 740 (riggers), there are also welders, painters, machinest, pipe fitters, crane operators, etc. You will also have to go through a background check. Be sure to list anything negative that you think would hurt your chances of getting a job. Chances are they already know about it, they just want to see if you'll lie about it.

The union they have is stupid. All they can do is try to help you out if you get in trouble. They have nothing to do with pay or anything, you can't strike, and they are pretty much useless.
